Strong alignment in Virabhadrasana A begins with stability. The key muscles doing the work are the glutes to keep the pelvis steady, the core to support the spine, and the hip flexors and psoas to allow healthy depth in the front knee bend while keeping the back leg active. When these muscles switch on, the rib cage stacks over the pelvis, the hips square more easily, and the front knee tracks safely. Stability creates space, and space creates strength.
