Tomorrow is the Lakeland 50!

10 months of talking and worrying about it, 7 months of training for it, juggling work, horses and childcare.

My training has included 821k distance covered since mid January 2019 and a number of races

🔸Forest 5m
🔸Poynton 10k
🔸Stockport Trail Half Marathon
🔸Belvoir Trail Marathon
🔸Manchester Marathon (my 3hr 30m finally getting me to the london Marathon 🤞🏼 in 2019)
🔸1 training ultra distance
🔸The Lakeland 55k Ultra Marathon



WHY? I’m not 💯 sure, I like to be competitive, not with others so much but I enjoy a challenge, it keeps me focused, engaged and happy!

Running for me is my down time. Time to think, headspace and meditation!

Since the Original Mountain Marathon, (OMM) left us stranded unaccounted for over night in 70 mile an hour winds in October 🙈 I never take it for granted that I will finish a race so fingers crossed and best foot 🦶 forward tomorrow.

The best advice will be remembered at many points tomorrow I’m sure, ‘just keep putting one foot in front of the other until you reach the finish line!

Lakeland 55 ✅ finished injury free! Straight back to work on Monday leading HIIT sessions with the kids and my own classes and clients. Spent every afternoon tired and could have happily had a nap, this is not like me at all! Then ended the week jumping on a ✈️ to to meet my mum, late nights and lie ins, the perfect recovery! So much guilt and worry taking any time off when you are self employed but I’m heading home feeling 💯 refreshed and excited to get back to it tomorrow morning! @ Montreux, Switzerland

Probably the first time I’ve ever drank enough water in a day and it took me an app to do it! I drink a lot of water with lemon and cold infusions, I prefer the taste and find it easier to drink! Drinking enough water helps:

1. Increase your focus 👀
2. Helps reduce unnecessary snaking 🍭
3. Improve strength and speed 💪🏼 4. Make your skin radiant 🍑
5. Helps to reduce calorie intake 🥗
6. Helps your mood! 😊

Today I considered holding my hands up and pulling out of the . I’m really struggling to find the time to fit any long runs in. Tonight I followed my own advice, sat down with the diary and blocked out some time to spend some serious time in the hills. I have really do sympathise with clients who find it hard to fit exercise into their weekly routine.
It takes sacrifice, commitment and dedication. I’ll give it my best shot to be there, I know I will never regret putting the effort in to do it but will be so disappointed in myself if I drop out.

Busy day ending in kids cricket yesterday evening . Had a freezer hunt and found a home made veggie chilli. Made some guacamole to go with it (despaired at all the packaging I threw away). Turned out it was a veggie bolognaise!!! 🙈 Threw in some cumin, chilli, beans and mixed spice and no one noticed!!!!

Overwhelmed with the feedback from my little fitness and wellness project which I put together myself and proposed to a couple of primary schools. I absolutely love delivering this scheme and am over the moon that is has been received so well. The pupils have all learnt about; 🔸importance of eating a balanced diet and what that looks like
🔸nutrition and what each food group does for the body
🔸the benefits of exercise on their physical and mental health
🔸overcoming barriers to exercise
🔸building resilience
🔸how you don’t need to have a love for a particular sport to engage in exercise.

Each session has concluded in a HIIT session which which has been challenging but very popular with the children.

Now I just need to find the time to promote my project to other schools! Marketing isn’t really a strength of mine and I spend such a lot of time face to face with clients and in school there is very little time for anything else!

What an afternoon! Worth Primary Y4 were awesome! We spent some time talking about the importance of physical activity and it’s impact on our physical and mental health followed by a 30m HIIT session. All 30 pupils worked their socks off, and left very sweaty and red! Unfortunately I cant post pictures of their enthusiastic faces so here’s mine! All pink cheeked but feeling good after a great afternoon! The pupils asked if we could organise a whole school workout and invite all parents, carers and teachers to take part... now there’s an idea...💡
