POPPING PILLS šŸ’Š Vitamin D pills that is. I’m not normally one to recommend supplements, but for vitamin D I make an exception. Especially in winter.

As the days get shorter, our main source of vitamin D (the ā˜€ļø) isn’t enough to keep us at the recommended level.

It’s essential for bone health and immunity (super important in winter). Find out the full benefits, sources of vitamin D, the recommended dosage of it, and how to maximise it absorbency in my new blog ā€˜Vitamin D’. (Kept it simple in that blog title…)

SOUP SEASON BABY 🄣 I love coming in from the cold, wet weather and warming up with a bowl of soup. So darn comforting.

My diet definitely changes as the seasons / weather change. I tend to want heartier, warmer foods in winter vs fresher, cooler foods in the summer. I probably won’t be sharing many salads over winter unless they’re warm!

Soup is one of my go-to’s on the mountain in winter. With a sandwich to dip in. Such a winner.

Are you a soup lover? What’s your favourite?

BOLOGNAISE WITH A TWIST šŸ Sorry Italiens, I’ve been messing with the classic bolognaise recipe šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø

I love a bolognaise. It was a favourite of mine growing up (who didn’t love it..!?) and it continues to be a favourite today. I don’t know what it is, it just feels so damn comforting.

I was lucky to get a banging bolognaise recipe from my mum (thanks mum šŸ™) but I’ve edited it a bit… to pack in some more of that all important nutrition. Perfect for the kids!

BACK FROM THE UK šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ I’ve not been so active on here as I’ve been in the UK for a week.

After 2 years it’s been so great to catch up with friends and family. I loved every minute of it but dayyyyum I’m exhausted.

Lots of drinking, a few late nights, and lots of birthday celebrations means my battery is pretty drained.

I’ll be recharging by taking it easy, prioritising sleep and eating lots of nourishing food. I’ll also be jumping back on the meditation bandwagon which I fell off temporarily during the trip.

I’ll be cooking up some food in the coming weeks for some new recipes so stayed tuned šŸ“»

OH MY DAYS 🦁 Words cannot describe how incredible the .musical was last night. Utterly speechless.

It’s been a dream of mine to see it on stage ever since I can remember. I was a blubbering mess in the opening song (and multiple times throughout the show) with an overwhelm of emotions. I had no idea theatre could do what it did last night.

We weren’t allowed to take any photos, and I didn’t want to. I just wanted to be completely in the moment. So a photo program it is.

100 million times out of 10 would recommend.

THE F*CK IT MENTALITY šŸ–•Wonderjng what the eff I’m on about?

It’s a term I coined to describe the all or nothing attitude. Something a lot of people have when it comes to health.

If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know I’m an advocate for balance. Read exactly what I mean by this in my new blog ā€˜The F*ck it Mentality’. Yep, the links in the bio for a change.

If you don’t read it just take the time to appreciate how many times I had to correct f*uck to f*ck. Try typing it yourself!

FAT SOLUBLE VITAMINS 🄬 Did you know pairing certain foods increases the absorption?

Fat soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) do not dissolve in water. The body absorbs these vitamins as it does dietary fats. This means when you eat foods high in these vitamins - like kale which is high in vitamin A and K - if you add a good fat source (like avocado or olive oil) you’ll get even more nutrition from the food.

I often like to rub kale in some extra virgin olive oil for a salad, it’s quicker and easier than cooking it and packs more of a nutritional punch 🄊

Do you know about food pairing!?

COLD DIPS FOR MENTAL HEALTH šŸ’¦ The change in season has got me excited for a couple of things… one of them being dips in some effing cold water.

There’s lots of research into cold water therapy and the science shows that it takes 6 immersions to halve the cold water shock response. Which can also make you less reactive to everyday stress. Basically your body adapts to stressors - what scientists call ā€˜cross-adaptation’.

Not only does it help with stress but it also helps reduce inflammation.

Aside from all the science I do just love it. Who else is a cold water dipper? Maybe we should get a group together for a regular winter dip?

WHY I STOPPED INTERMITTENT FASTING 🄣 And started eating aaaall of the porridge again 🤤

I started the intermittent fasting journey roughly 3-4 years ago and stopped around a year or so ago, I’m not actually sure on the exact dates.

What I am sure about is that it wasn’t for me. You can read why in my most recent blog ā€˜Why I Stopped Intermittent Fasting’.

I would like to say though, just because I don’t intermittent fast, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. And visa versa.

Everyone of us is different, and just because something works for one person doesn’t mean it’ll work for another (that’s why there are so many damn diets out there!). The only person who can truly tell what works for you is YOU.

The question is if you’re able and willing to listen to yourself… it’s a lot harder said than done. Especially thanks to those pesky societal pressures.

Enough of the serious talk, give it a read if you’ve got a spare minute or two on the sh***er 🚽

PUMPKIN SOUP šŸŽƒ Hellooooo soup season. This chilly weather has got me wanting some warm, comfort food.

Using the left over pumpkin purƩe from the pumpkin spice balls, I fried off some onions and garlic with some mixed herbs. Chucked some veggie stock into the mix and then blitzed it all together with the purƩe. I added a dollop of Greek yoghurt from some extra creaminess.

It was a delight. Warm, cosy and super tasty. Perfect for autumn šŸ‚

If you want the exact recipe it’ll be in my monthly newsletter which I’ll send next week. Sign up via the link in my bio.
