You slowly negotiate it away.

A bit less rest
A bit more pushing
A bit more “I’ll deal with it later”

Your rhythm becomes less consistent
your body gets less of what it actually needs

From the outside, things are still working.

You are getting things done.
Showing up.
Keeping everything moving.

But inside, it feels different.

Your thinking feels less clear.
Your mind stays busy.
What used to feel simple now takes more effort.

Not dramatic.

✨ The body often knows first.

Long before we fully admit something is off, the body is often already telling the truth.

The mind says keep going.
It is fine.
Push through.
You just need a weekend.
You just need to get on top of things again.

Meanwhile the body is saying something else.

Through tension.
Through tiredness.
Through irritability.
Through not fully relaxing.
Through that sense of always being slightly braced.

Not everything the body carries is dramatic.

Sometimes it is quiet.

A breath that never really deepens.
Shoulders that do not quite drop.
A nervous system that does not seem to settle.
A low level strain that becomes so familiar it stops being questioned.

This is often how disconnection builds.

Not all at once, but slowly, while someone continues to function and calls it normal.

The body often knows first.

This is often part of the deeper work in coaching too, learning to recognise what the body has been holding long before the mind fully catches up.

The question is whether we are willing to listen before the cost becomes too great.

✨ Space is not the same as free time.

That is one of the reasons people can feel confused for so long.

They finally have a quiet evening, a free hour, or a weekend with less on.

And still, it does not really reach them.

The mind keeps going.
The body does not really soften.
Part of them is still inside everything.
Still thinking ahead.
Still carrying what has not been processed.

So they start making it about themselves.

Maybe I am bad at resting.
Bad at switching off.
Too tense.
Too much in my head.

But often that is not the real issue.

Because space is not only about having time.

It is about whether there is any real room left inside you.

Room to exhale.
Room to feel what is there.
Room to stop managing for a moment.
Room for your system to come out of constant readiness.

That is why time away does not always restore.

If the body is still braced, the mind still occupied, and the inner world still full, even rest can pass by without really reaching you.

Sometimes the deeper work is not just creating more time.

It is creating more space ✨

👉🏼 One of the reasons inner pressure can go on for so long is that people start calling it normal.

They are still functioning.
Still showing up.
Still doing what needs to be done.

So it gets explained away.

A busy phase.
A lot going on.
Just life right now.
Just a full season.

Anything but the possibility that something is no longer sustainable.

But normal does not always mean healthy.

Sometimes it simply means you have been living this way for so long that you no longer question what it is costing you.

The shorter patience.
The body that rarely fully softens.
The rest that does not really restore.
The quiet sense of being there, but not fully with yourself.

These are not small things.

They are signs.

Not that you are weak.
Not that you are failing.

But that something in you has been adapting for too long without enough space to recover, process, and come back to yourself.

This is often where the real shift begins.

The moment it stops being “just life”
and you start seeing it for what it is.

Because what has been normalised for a long time can quietly shape everything
until it is finally seen clearly.

👉🏼 We often say sport clears the mind.
But what if your body is already carrying more than it can process?

After a stressful day, many people go straight into more intensity. A hard workout. Heavy weights. A run to burn it off. Another demand on a body that is already running on pressure.

And yes, movement can help.

But not always in the way people think.

The body does not always register intense exercise as relief. Sometimes it simply experiences more stress.

That does not mean exercise is wrong. It means context matters.

What state are you already in when you begin
Have you eaten enough
Are you already depleted
Are you trying to support yourself or override yourself again
Are you moving from care or from pressure

Sometimes the workout becomes another way of proving, controlling, compensating, or trying to force change.

Especially when weight is not shifting
When sleep no longer feels deeply restorative
When your system already feels wired, tired, or under strain

What helps in the short term can sometimes keep the deeper pattern going in the long term.

One of my clients discovered that less was more.

Less pushing
Less intensity
Less acting against herself

As the pressure came off, her body responded differently. Not overnight, but steadily. More calm. More awareness. More trust. More connection with what she actually needed.

That is often where the real shift begins.

Not in doing more
But in understanding why you keep pushing in the first place

There is a time for intensity
And there is a time for regulation
A time to challenge the body
And a time to help it feel safe again

You have to factor yourself into that equation too.

Not only the goal
Not only the plan
Not only the result

You first.

Sometimes the first real shift is not change. It is honest recognition.

For a long time, you can feel that something is off and still keep going as if it is not.

You keep showing up.
You keep functioning.
You keep carrying a lot.

But inside, it feels different.

You are more tired.
More irritable.
Less restored by sleep.
Things feel heavier than they should.
You do not quite feel like yourself anymore.

There can even be shame in that, because part of you thinks you should still be able to cope the way you always have.

So you minimise it.
Call it stress.
Call it a phase.
Tell yourself things will settle soon.

But when something has felt off for a long time, it usually does not need more ignoring.

It needs recognition.

That is often where real change begins.

This is the work I do.

I work with people who are still managing life on the outside, but know inwardly that something is no longer working in the same way.

I help them recognise the deeper pattern, reconnect with themselves, and begin creating change from a place of truth rather than more self pressure.

👉🏼 A part of my story I don’t often share…

It wasn’t the workload that broke me
it was the way I had learned to carry everything

From the outside, everything looked like it was working
I was leading, managing, holding it all together
being the one who could handle it all
the one who kept everything moving

And I did

But underneath that, there was constant pressure
a level of tension that never really switched off
and a quiet feeling I couldn’t ignore
that no matter how much I did, it was never quite enough

So I kept going
because that’s what many of us do

we push through
we hold it together
we don’t stop

Until I had to

What started as back pain escalated to the point where I ended up in a wheelchair
and suddenly everything stopped

Rebuilding my strength wasn’t just physical
it brought me face to face with something deeper

how much of my worth had been tied to what I could carry
how much I could do
how well I could perform

And without that, I felt lost

At the same time, my body wasn’t responding the way I expected
I was doing everything “right”
and still felt exhausted, disconnected, out of sync

That’s when things began to shift

not by doing more
but by understanding what was happening underneath

how stress, nervous system, hormones and nutrition all work together
and how much I had been working against myself without even realising it

As I started to reconnect with my body
my energy came back in a way that felt steady, not forced

and for the first time in a long time
I felt at ease in myself

This experience shapes how I work today

Because I understand what it feels like
to hold everything together on the outside
while quietly feeling the cost of it inside

And I also know

real strength isn’t pushing harder
it’s learning how to lead yourself
in a way that doesn’t burn you out 💛

👉🏼 This morning I did an exercise on myself that I have done many times before.

And still, it showed me something.

We can feel clear about what we want, and yet before we even begin, there can be a quiet inner voice already questioning it.

Why it may not happen.
Why it may not work.
Why it may not be for us.

Slowing down enough to really hear those thoughts can be incredibly revealing.

Writing them down.
Reading them slowly.
Saying them out loud.
Feeling what happens in the body.

Because underneath those thoughts, there is often something deeper.

Fear.
Protection.
Old conditioning.
A version of us that does not yet feel safe in the very thing we say we want.

Then coming back to the vision again.
Not only as an idea, but as something to feel and embody.

So simple.
So powerful.

This is part of how I work with clients too.

🌿 Are you living in alignment… or acting from the role you’ve learned to perform?

For many women, this isn‘t obvious at first.

Because from the outside, life can look perfectly fine.

You are capable.
Responsible.
Experienced.
You know how to hold things together.
You know how to keep going.
You know what is expected of you, and you meet it.

But underneath that, something can begin to feel off.

Not dramatic enough to call it a crisis.
Not visible enough for others to notice.
But present enough that you feel it.

A quiet disconnect.

Between who you are now
and how you are still showing up.

Between what looks functional
and what actually feels true.

This is often what I see in the women I support.

Women who have spent years being reliable, strong, switched on, supportive and productive.
Women who have learned how to keep moving, even when something deeper in them is asking for attention.
Women who are no longer asking, How do I do more?
but quietly wondering, Is this still me?

Because there comes a point where caring for yourself is no longer just about doing something nice for yourself.

It becomes an act of awareness.

Noticing what is driving you.
What you are overriding.
What you have normalised that no longer feels good.
Where you are performing strength instead of truly inhabiting it.

And that awareness changes something.

Because when you live too long from role, pressure or old identity, the cost often shows up quietly first
in your energy,
your patience,
your body,
your ability to switch off,
and in that feeling that even when life is “working”, something in you does not feel fully met.

Alignment feels different.

More steadiness.
More clarity.
More truth.
More self-respect.
Less performing.
Less overriding.
More of you.

This is the work I do with the women I support.

Not helping them become someone else.
But helping them return to themselves more fully.

Because real wellbeing is not just about functioning well in your life.
It is about feeling that the life you are living is actually aligned with who you are.

Are you living in alignment… or acting from the role you’ve learned to perform?

From the outside, life can look fine.

You are capable.
Responsible.
Experienced.
You keep going.
You meet what is expected of you.

And yet underneath that, something can feel off.

A quiet disconnect between who you are now and how you are still showing up.

👉🏼 There’s a kind of tiredness that doesn’t come from doing too much…

but from being in your head all the time.

A client said to me recently,

“I feel like I’m constantly in my head
and the moments I actually feel like myself are rare.”

And I could feel how many women would recognise that.

From the outside, everything works.

You’re reliable.
You get things done.
You hold a lot.

But inside, it can feel like a kind of quiet chaos.

Always thinking.
Planning.
Holding the next thing.

And somehow… missing the moments you actually want to be in.

When I asked her what those moments feel like, she didn’t hesitate.

Light.
Spontaneous.
Present.
Connected.

“That’s when I feel like me again.”

And then she said something that shifted everything.

“I think I have to earn those moments first.”

Finish everything.
Get through the list.
Then maybe… you can relax.

Maybe you can feel good.

But those moments?

They are already there.

In small pauses during the day.
In a quiet moment when nothing is urgent.
In the choice between doing… and just being.

The hard part isn’t creating them.

It’s allowing them.

Because the mind is already somewhere else.

So the moment passes.

Something we gently explored together:

What are you postponing in your life until everything is done?
Where do you override your own needs, even when you notice them?
And who were you before life became something to manage…
and is she still closer than you think?

This is not about doing more.

It’s about reconnecting.

Sometimes in the smallest, simplest moments.
