What an incredible morning at Mindful Movers

Move your body. Calm your mind. Find your balance.
That was the heartbeat of our session, and it truly came to life in the most beautiful way.

We came together as a community to move, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves and each other. The session began with gentle warm ups to awaken the body, followed by guided breathing and relaxation techniques that helped calm the mind and release built up tension.

We explored expressive movement and stress relief exercises, creating a safe, supportive space for emotional release, creativity, and self expression. The energy then lifted as we flowed into vibrant dance sessions, especially the soulful rhythms of kompa, where joy, connection, and freedom of movement took over.

From moments of stillness to bursts of energy, there was laughter, connection, and a shared sense of well being throughout. It was more than just a session, it was a reminder of the power of movement, music, and community in helping us feel grounded and renewed.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up and made it such a special experience. Your energy and presence brought Mindful Movers to life.

Children don’t always say what they feel, but yesterday, they showed it.

Through color. Through movement. Through presence.

We were honored, as DIBA Holistic Wellness Care, to partner in Colors of Healing: Chapter One and the official launch of THE ARTVINE — a powerful initiative that created a safe, structured space for children to express themselves freely and authentically.

What may have looked like painting and play was, in truth, a creative mental health intervention one that allowed children to communicate emotions that are often difficult to put into words.

As part of our contribution, our Executive Director had the privilege of introducing mental health to the children in a way that was simple, engaging, and expressive, helping them understand their feelings through demonstration, creativity, and interaction.

Our team and volunteers also stayed on to support the sessions, walking alongside the children as they painted, explored, and expressed themselves.

Moments like these remind us that when given the right environment, children naturally move toward expression, connection, and healing.

We extend our sincere appreciation to other partners; Inclusive Development Network Africa, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Cameroon and all collaborating organizations, sponsors, volunteers, and creatives who came together to make this experience possible.

This collaboration reflects what is possible when we intentionally create spaces where children are not only seen, but truly heard.

This is only the beginning. 💚

The week-long GBVIMS training in Limbe concluded on April 24th, marking a successful milestone for data experts in the NW/SW regions. Organized by TeenAlive with UNFPA Cameroon's technical support, the final day solidified our expertise under the Woman Eh Wuna Place Dey Project.

The focus centered on the Information Sharing Protocol (ISP) and data sharing agreements. These sessions ensured that DIBA Holistic Wellness Care’s digital systems prioritize survivor safety, handling every data point with strict confidentiality and ethical integrity.

Throughout the week, we moved from theory to hands-on mastery of the Incident Recorder. Working through real-life scenarios with specialists Mr. Charles and Madame Kathel, our team sharpened the skills needed to link intake forms with digital databases accurately.

UNFPA National GBV Coordinator, Madam Lilian Munezro, provided vital insights into timely and ethical reporting. She reinforced that the Incident Recorder must always facilitate a survivor-centered response that protects the dignity of those we serve.

The training officially closed with remarks from MINPROFF, UNFPA, and TeenAlive. Following rigorous evaluations, our team is now fully equipped to implement these standardized tools to improve GBV response at both organizational and regional levels.

We are sincerely grateful to UNFPA Cameroon, TeenAlive, and our international partners for this opportunity. By strengthening our data systems, we ensure a safer and more reliable path toward support for survivors across our communities.

Day 4 of the GBVIMS training in Limbe marked a significant shift toward technical mastery for the team at DIBA Holistic Wellness Care.

The focus was on the Incident Recorder, a critical tool for managing gender-based violence data with precision. Participants transitioned from theory to practice, using their laptops to navigate the system under the expert guidance of Mr. Charles and Madame Kathel.

This hands-on session was vital for ensuring that the transition from paper intake forms to digital databases maintains the highest standards of accuracy.

A key highlight was the participation of the UNFPA GBV National Coordinator, Mrs. Lilian Munezro, who shared insights into the ethics of information management.

She emphasized that while the technical aspects of the Incident Recorder are essential, they must always serve the goal of survivor-centered support.

This reinforced our commitment to strict confidentiality and robust data protection. For DIBA Holistic Wellness Care, this means ensuring every piece of information is handled with the utmost dignity and safety for the survivors we serve.

By the end of the day, our team deepened their ability to link real-life case scenarios with standardized reporting tools. This capacity building is a core component of the "Women Eh Wuna Place Dey" project, which seeks to harmonize inter-agency coordination through reliable data.

By mastering the Incident Recorder, we are contributing to a stronger, evidence-based response system that protects survivors across the region.

We remain grateful to UNFPA Cameroon and TeenAlive for the technical leadership necessary to drive these localized solutions forward.

Last Sunday, our team at DIBA Holistic Wellness Care had the privilege of leading a sensitization session at Christland Ministries as part of our ongoing Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).activities.

The focus of our conversation was both sensitive and necessary:
📍Family exposure of r**e and the role of individuals as ambassadors of care.

We explored how silence, denial, and stigma within families can deepen the trauma for survivors, and how, as a community, we can begin to shift from secrecy to support, protection, and accountability.

It was a powerful moment of reflection as participants engaged openly, asked questions, and leaned into the responsibility we all carry in creating safer environments, especially within our homes and faith spaces.

At DIBA, we believe that healing and prevention start with awareness, compassion, and courageous conversations. Every voice matters, and every informed individual becomes a potential ambassador of care.

Grateful to Christland Ministries for opening their doors and hearts to this important dialogue, and to our team for showing up with empathy, professionalism, and purpose.

The work continues.

Our sincere appreciation to Pastor Rochie Osvalin Page and Mrs Ubangoh Loretha Osvalin for being supportive stakeholders in our community.

Across the country, many women, men, and children continue to experience sexual and gender-based violence in spaces that are meant to be safe, homes, schools, and communities. Available data suggests that about 1 in 5 women in Cameroon have experienced some form of violence, and more than half may face physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. Yet, only a fraction of these cases are ever reported.

Why?

Because survivors are often met with doubt instead of support.
Because fear of stigma, shame, and retaliation keeps many silent.
Because in some cases, the system meant to protect them fails them.

In regions like the North West and South West, the ongoing crisis has further deepened vulnerabilities. Displacement, economic hardship, and instability have increased exposure to abuse, especially for women and children.

What makes this even more painful is that sexual assault is rarely committed by strangers. In many cases, it involves people the survivor knows, neighbors, relatives, authority figures, making it even harder to speak out.

Beyond the physical harm, sexual assault leaves deep psychological wounds. It affects mental health, self-worth, relationships, and even a person’s ability to function, learn, and thrive. The impact is not just individual, it ripples through families and communities.

This is why silence is dangerous.

When we stay silent, we protect perpetrators.
When we question survivors, we reinforce fear.
When we look away, we allow the cycle to continue.

This Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we must choose to do better:
• Listen and believe survivors
• Create safe and supportive spaces for disclosure
• Educate ourselves and young people about consent and boundaries
• Speak up against abuse in our homes and communities
• Advocate for stronger protection and accountability systems

Ending sexual violence in Cameroon will not happen overnight, but it begins with awareness, empathy, and action.

Silence should never be safer than speaking up.

Day 3 of the GBVIMS training marked a deep dive into the ethics of information management for DIBA Holistic Wellness Care.

The focus was on the cornerstone of all survivor-centered work: 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭. We explored how empowering a survivor to make their own choices is not just a procedural step, but the first step in their journey of reclaiming power and healing.

The sessions provided a comprehensive look at the 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬, specifically focusing on 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠.

By visualizing the flow of information from within our programs to external systems, we can better detect obstacles and ensure that no data "leaks" occurs. This mapping is vital for maintaining the strict confidentiality that survivors deserve.
We also tackled the technicalities of the 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 (𝐈𝐑).

A key takeaway was the automatic nature of the IR and the critical "No" trigger: if a survivor does not consent to share their data, the system is designed to respect that choice immediately. This reinforces our principle that data collection must never come at the expense of a survivor's comfort or safety.

Through scenario-based exercises, our team refined the skills needed to use these tools in real-life situations.

Accurate reporting and data analysis are the backbones of our advocacy; they allow us to see prevalence and gaps, ensuring that DIBA Holistic Wellness Care remains a data-driven, compassionate leader in the GBV response.

Special thanks to and for their technical support in strengthening our response systems.
