Do you see this on your children or yourself? Does it itch terribly especially at night? Have you blamed the water you use to bathe as the cause? Has any medical personnel told you it is water? Disregard the fake assumptions and accusations. That's a transmissible parasite infestation called scabies ( commonly referred to in Cameroon as "come no go").
What are scabies mites?
Scabies mites are microscopic eight-legged parasites that infest the human body, specifically human skin. When someone gets a scabies infection, the tiny mites burrow into the skin. The female mites lay their eggs in the upper layer of skin and live there. The mites themselves, as well as mite eggs and mite f***s (p**p), cause an allergic reaction in the body. This leads to intense itching, skin irritation, and a skin rash.
Scabies is a common infectious skin disease, affecting some 200 million people around the world every year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). A scabies infestation can spread easily in crowded places, such as nursing homes, prisons, clubs, schools, markets, sporting fields and other facilities where people are in close skin contact with one another.
In Cameroon, people easily get this condition around the coastal areas where temperature and humidity are a little harsh leading to rampant poor hygienic conditions especially around ghetto areas. "Come no go" mostly emanates from these ghettos and somehow finds itself into the cities especially around the dry season crossing to the rainy season.
It is no doubt that a lot of people spend 50,000frscfa to 100,000frscfa conducting series skin biopsy and taking numerous drugs including even that of fungi. Funny isn't it?
