You know, when people hear "psychology," they often think it's just some weird thing where people sit around analyzing dreams or giving vague advice.

But that's really not the case at all.

Psychology is actually quite scientific...in fact, it's very scientific. We're talking here about observable brain activity, well documented behavioral patterns, and research-backed techniques.

Look at it this way: A psychologist who helps someone overcome say anxiety or depression, uses specific methods that have been tested and proven to work over time. Not just vain counsel and talk.

Researchers study memory, brain activity using brain scans and controlled experiments, not just theories or what ifs.

The field covers everything from understanding behavior in its pure sense. There are psychologists working in hospitals, schools, courts, companies, etc.

It's a discipline with real tools, real measurements, and real impact on people. Far from being vague, it is actually very grounded in solid scientific evidence.

Life is a dishonest story. Always put on your survival gloves and stay strong. People may come and go, some will stand by you only when they benefit, & others may leave when you have little to offer. But don’t be discouraged.

Genuine loyalty is rare , so never measure your worth by the presence or absence of people. Your value is not measured by what you give to others but by who you are at your core. Keep shining, keep growing, and trust that the right people will stay with you through every season. Those who truly matter will celebrate you, not just what you provide.

THE TREASURE OF CHILDREN IN AFRICAN LIFE

Children are truly a blessing from above, each one bringing joy, hope, and continuity to a family. Yet, some children can be considered a double blessing...their presence adding even deeper meaning and fulfillment to the lives of their parents and community.

Female children, in particular, are often celebrated for their caring nature, compassion, and emotional depth. They are known to nurture not just their families but also their communities, embodying love and resilience in unique ways.

In the African context, the value of children goes beyond the biological act of procreation. They represent economic, social, cultural, and even spiritual wealth. Children are widely celebted and valied, they strengthen family bonds, preserve traditions, and ensure the continuity of lineage. They are the pride of their parents, a source of identity, and a reflection of legacy. Like we say in pidgin...Pikin na Waka stick for old age (Children:The walking Stick of old age).

Indeed, to have biological or non-biological children is to be entrusted with the future..For in them we sow seeds of continuity. To raise them well can sometimes be demanding, but it's a way to plant seeds of hope for generations yet to come.

Misanthropic and Narcissistic Mindsets: Checking your Mental Health

Psychologists have observed that Misanthropic & Narcissistic tendencies seem to be on the rise these days. Many openly display a high level of schadenfreude i.e taking secret pleasure in the pain and setbacks of others. Some of this behavior may be fueled by the pressures of a struggling economy like ours, but make no mistake, it’s a deeply unhealthy mindset.

Such people indulge in lies telling so to gain favor in certain circles & inherit enemies that aren’t even theirs to begin with. You can rarely hear anything uplifting from them. Their conversations are laced with criticisms, badmouthing, gossip, & negativity.

When they see you in the company of good people, living well, and enjoying peace, it unsettles them. Other people’s wellness, success, & joy seem to ignite their envy. They take comfort in others’ struggles and discomfort in their happiness.
This is more than just unpleasant, it’s toxic.

Prolonged exposure to such negativity can chip away at your mental health, wellness and peace of mind. Choose instead to surround yourself with positive, supportive people who celebrate your growth,. It's therapeutic.

Life is too short to share your space with those who drain your joy and peace. Guard your circle, guard your peace. Happiness thrives where hearts are warm, minds are open, and success is shared.

Misanthropy and narcissism are poison to healthy living, detox your life from both. Happiness is contagious ...Catch it from the Right People

Happy Birthday to Kate Tande( PhD), the Woman God has shown Mercy, a woman of substance, strength, and unstoppable spirit.
In my own quiet way, I have walked paths many never knew existed. Yes, I have done so with graceful steps and resilience in my soul.
Life hasn’t always been easy, but through the storms and silence, I’ve kept going.

Yes, I love the beauty of life, but I’ve also known its weight. Still, I rise with kindness in my heart and purpose in my stride.
I am proud of the impact I make, even if it’s unseen or unsung. Because real strength doesn’t always shout ... sometimes, it simply shows up every single day.

Today, I choose to honour my journey.
I pray this new chapter brings me closer to all I dream of with love that holds me up, peace that steadies me, and joy that fills me deeply.

I will continue to rise ...not for applause, but because the world still needs my light.
And so, I shine… ✨

DO PEOPLE REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS TO BE CARING?

Being caring is often misunderstood.
-It's not about dumping excess cash.
-It's not just about filling the house with food or buying expensive gifts.
-It's not about what you can spare...it’s about what you choose to give from the HEART.

True care is deeper. It's about
*Unconditional love.
*Genuine presence
*Quiet empathy

It’s the little gestures that matter the most:
✅A simple text, a phone call, a brief visit etc
✅Remembering an important date or a tough anniversary.
✅Offering a warm hug or listening without judgment.
✅Sharing a meal, even if it's just garri and sugar.
*Writing a handwritten note or letter.
*Sitting in silence with someone going through a hard time.
*Helping with everyday chores and tasks.
*Praying with or for someone sincerely.
*Celebrating small wins and standing firm during failures.

✅Real care isn’t loud, it’s consistent.
*It doesn’t show off, it shows up.
LET'S NORMALIZE REAL CARE. YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS. THE WORLD NEEDS IT.

NARCISSISTIC PRESONALITY DISORDER IN WOMEN; A SILENT STRUGGLE BEHIND THE SMILE. (3)

It’s essential to understand that narcissistic traits are not simply personality flaws. Often, they are rooted in deeper psychological wounds, childhood trauma, or inconsistent validation during formative years. In women, societal pressure to look perfect, achieve more, and prove worth in male-dominated spaces can also fuel narcissistic defenses.

Many women who exhibit narcissistic behavior are thus responding consciously or unconsciously to a world that constantly demands more of them. Their image-consciousness and perfectionism may be ways of masking internal insecurity or emotional pain.

Women with NPD often
become emotionally isolated and former less successful friends usually fade away. In some cases, family ties sometimes grow cold. As criticism increases, so does their belief that others are envious, jealous or unsupportive. This cycle of defensiveness and detachment can lead to long-term loneliness and difficulty in forming authentic relationships.

The challenge with NPD is that many sufferers don’t realize they have a diagnosable condition. Their behavior is often seen as “just how they are.” But NPD is a recognized mental health issue, and like many psychological disorders, it is treatable, through psychotherapy.

In sum, we must consider social pressures. Society places unique expectations on women that may shape how narcissistic traits emerge or are perceived. It's our responsibility to encourage support, not shame. NPD is a psychological condition, not a character flaw. With awareness and therapy, healing is possible.

Conversations around narcissism in women must move beyond gossip or stereotype. Instead, we should seek to understand the psychological roots, acknowledge the social context, and offer compassion alongside accountability.

Let’s not just talk about what we see, let’s try to understand why it happens and how we can help those silently struggling behind the mask of perfection.

NARCISSISTIC PRESONALITY DISORDER IN WOMEN; A SILENT STRUGGLE BEHIND THE SMILE. (2)

We sometimes hear sayings like "a woman's worst enemy is another woman" or claims that it's easier to work with male bosses than female ones, but these reflect real frustrations and also echo longstanding gender stereotypes around us. In addition, these sentiments may partly stem from how narcissistic behaviors manifest in some women: passive aggressiveness, social comparison, and a heightened need for validation in appearance or status.

However, it’s important to avoid generalizing because not all ambitious or stylish women are narcissistic. The problem arises when a person’s self-worth becomes inflated at the expense of others' dignity and relationships.

In many cases, narcissistic women seek admiration not only for their abilities but also for their appearance, lifestyle, and associations. They have a fixation on designer clothes, shoes, hand bags, luxury accessories, and social status symbols. This reveal an unspoken sense of superiority over others, especially those they consider as “low class”.

While female narcissists may not be as overtly exploitative as some male counterparts, their sense of entitlement, lack of empathy, and manipulative tendencies can be just as damaging, especially in emotionally charged or competitive environments like the neighborhood, workplace and social gatherings.
