As we celebrate the international AIDS day, beyond knowing your status, as well as, that of your partner... This year I'll like to emphasize on the elimination of mother to child transmission of the disease.
Pregnant women do well to attend antenatal visits and check your HIV status.
You may be a newly diagnosed pregnant woman but hooray you stand a chance of birthing a healthy baby boy or girl.
Engage with your health-care practitioners, adhere to your medications, safe delivery at a health center with a midwife who knows your status, prophylaxis (Nevirapine) for the lovely newborn.
Together, we shall eliminate mother to child HIV transmission and have our positive mothers stay healthy.
Dr. Sayab, NMA Health team.
