Gambia: Life Sentence for Nigerian Who R***d a 7-Year-Old Girl

Banjul, Gambia – The High Court in Banjul delivered its verdict on Thursday, March 5th, in a case that has shaken public opinion. Moses Ukwai, a 44-year-old Nigerian, was sentenced to life in prison for the r**e of a young girl aged just seven.

The facts, which date back to April 2025, were tried under the 2013 Sexual Offences Act. The accused was found guilty on the first count, the one concerning the seven-year-old victim. However, he was acquitted of a second charge which involved another child, aged eight.

Judge S.K. Jobarteh handed down a sentence of life imprisonment, underscoring the severity with which Gambian justice intends to treat crimes against children.

WOMEN DAY is at the corner and everywhere is creaming "woman oye, woman oye..." Please female Mayors and staffs of Women Affair, women day is not for marriage counseling.
Over the years, I have watched our leaders misinterpret the goal of this day. They have turned it into marriage sermon. WOMEN DAY has nothing to do with marriage. So please, do a proper counseling on the main goal of the day. The African woman is not just limited to marriage alone.
To my fellow women, don't be a disgrace to your children inthis day. It's not a day to get drunk, sleep in the gulters,bar, club.... It's not a day to kîll yourself or spouse cause you didn't have the 👗. If you want to enjoy yourself, do it in moderation and go home. A good mother shouldn't be inthe bar or club while the kids are home.
I have seen cases where many women were r@ped on 8th March cause they were drunk.
If your massa no buy your wrapper, take your money buy your own.
Most women have no understanding on what 8th March is all about, they just know sey na WA day for chop drink🤣.
I pray the leading team should do it's best by educating women rightly on 8th March.
