AWARENESS AND SCREENING CAMPAIGN AT GOVERNEMENT BILINGUAL HIGH SCHOOL GENIE MILITAIRE

As part of its mission to combat sickle cell disease, Break Sickle Cycle organised an awareness and screening campaign at GBHS Genie Militaire on 17th March 2026, in collaboration with:

Throughout the event, pupils were welcomed, informed and supported in a supervised environment that complied with safety and ethical standards. The screening sessions carried out enabled them to discover their genotype, an essential step towards making better health-related decisions.

Beyond the screening itself, this initiative provided a genuine opportunity for discussion and awareness-raising, reinforcing understanding of the challenges associated with sickle cell disease and the importance of prevention from a very young age.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the school’s administrative staff for their warm welcome and their commitment to supporting us.

Through this initiative, Break Sickle Cycle reaffirms its commitment to ensuring young people are better informed and take an active role in their own health

SICKLE CELL DISEASE AWARENESS SCHOOLS TOUR - FAR NORTH (MAROUA)

Smart Choices, Healthy Lives

As part of our school tour, a major awareness session was held on March 18, 2026, at the Collège Protestant of Mokolo.

This activity was organized and led by our regional coordinator, Mr. Issa Ibrahim and assistant coordinator Mr. Amba Blaise.

More than 450 students participated in this dynamic and enriching exchange.

Objectives achieved:
• Better understanding of sickle cell disease
• Raising awareness about genotype testing
• Encouraging responsible choices for a healthy life
