🌱Cucumber Growers Alert! Why FR 30 PPFD Outperforms 48 in Stem Growth?🌱
Did you notice that FR with PPFD 30 has longer stem than 48. Why?
1.The image illustrates a controlled experiment on cucumber plants exposed to increasing far-red (FR) light intensities (0, 15, 30, and 48 µmol m⁻² s⁻¹), revealing a clear dose–response relationship in stem elongation. but when far red PPFD reach to 48, Seems the cucumber stem not as longer as PPFD at 30~ Can any one explain it ?

2. As FR radiation rises, phytochrome photoreceptors shift toward the inactive Pfr form, activating shade-avoidance syndrome—evident in progressively taller, more stretched phenotypes.

3. The control plant (0 µmol m⁻² s⁻¹ FR) remains compact, underscoring FR’s pivotal role in modulating plant architecture; even low FR doses (15 µmol) induce noticeable elongation.

4. These findings are highly applicable to vertical farming and greenhouse horticulture, where tunable LED spectra can be leveraged to fine-tune crop structure—enhancing light interception, airflow, or space efficiency based on production goals.

Also far red with 30 ppfd has the biggest leaf diameter and numbers

🌱Dear All Vertical Farm Basil Growers~Did you have troubles as following?
1. Does generic LED lighting with improper red/blue ratio fail to boost basil’s essential oil production, resulting in bland flavor that can’t command premium prices?

2. In multi-tiered vertical farms, is uneven light distribution causing hotspot leaf burn and shadow-zone legginess, wasting valuable growing space?

3. Are inefficient grow lights driving excessive energy costs (up to 35% of operational expenses) while slowing basil’s maturity by 10-14 days?
