The Disadvantages of reusable fiber:

The disinfection method is crucial for reusable optical fibers to ensure medical safety.

High-level disinfection: ethylene oxide gas disinfection.

The core challenge lies in: The disinfectant solution may erode the outer sheath of the fiber, and if the residual proteins or biofilms are not thoroughly cleaned, they will seriously affect the disinfection effect and bring infection risks.

Fiber loss: Although medical fibers can be reused multiple times, the thermal conductivity and transmission efficiency of the fiber may decrease after each use. With the increase in the number of treatments, the performance of the fiber may gradually deteriorate, affecting the treatment effect. Therefore, doctors need to carefully inspect the fiber before each use to ensure its integrity.

in our EVLA machine, there is a cycle that gives a sound to tell me when I should pull the fiberoptic back 1cm by 1cm

In our machine, we set the total length of the vein, the energy nedded ( in watt), then in gave us the retraction time

Because the retraction time is very important in EVLA procedures

If the time is not enough, it won‘t have a good result
If the time is long, it will burn the surround tissues!
