Whatโs your semen PH indicates?
The pH value mainly reflects the balance between the alkaline fluid secreted by the seminal vesicles and the acidic fluid secreted by the prostate. Normal pH range is 7.2-8.0, and both excessively high or low pH can affect s***m survival.
pH < 7.0, accompanied by reduced semen volume, is often seen in cases of obstructed vas deferens, absence or developmental abnormalities of the ejaculatory duct and seminal vesicles.
pH > 8.0 is commonly seen in acute prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis or epididymitis, which may be caused by excessive secretion from the seminal vesicles or insufficient secretion from the prostate.
