‼️URGENT HELP NEEDED, URGENT SITUATION IN CYPRUS (EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN) ‼️

Hello everyone,

This summer, while visiting my son in Cyprus, I took photos of many cats and dogs at a kind woman’s property. She has been caring for a large number of feral cats, friendly cats, and several dogs who all need homes. She even fostered Michael, a very friendly FIV-positive cat I found in a feral colony. That's how we met. She offered to foster him when no one else could.

Unfortunately, she is now facing a serious crisis. Her landlord wants to bring in a guard dog that will kill every cat and dog in sight. She is negotiating, but it’s not looking good.

I had planned to post these photos on Feral Fundraiser to help find homes once I got back to California, but after returning I had surgery and needed recovery time. Because of that, I wasn’t able to share all of them until now. I had previously posted a few of them in the summer. ❣️

This woman is an amazing human who can't take on this situation on her own. She has cared tirelessly and lovingly for these animals on her own while working full time. That's why I had taken photos and was going to try and use Feral Fundraiser and contacts to help her.

We urgently need support not only to find safe homes for these cats and dogs, but also to help her find a new place to rent — ideally a farm-type property where she can continue to care for them safely.

If you or anyone you know can help — whether by fostering, adopting, spreading the word, or helping her find a suitable new property — please reach out. It’s a distressing situation, and she has been doing everything she can on her own.

Cats with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) can live long, healthy, and happy lives—sometimes comparable to non-infected cats—especially with good care and a stable environment.

Average lifespan: Many FIV-positive cats live well into their teens, especially if diagnosed in adulthood.

Progression rate: The virus progresses slowly, and some cats never show symptoms.

Factors affecting lifespan:

Overall health and age at diagnosis

Exposure to secondary infections

Stress level and quality of care

Whether the cat is neutered/spayed

Living environment (indoor vs. outdoor)

🛡️ Ways to Keep an FIV-Positive Cat Healthy

1. Indoor Lifestyle

Keep your cat indoors only to prevent exposure to infections and protect other cats (FIV spreads mainly via bite wounds).

2. Spay/Neuter

Reduces risk of aggressive behavior and fighting (which can spread FIV).

3. Routine Veterinary Care

Bi-annual checkups recommended

Prompt treatment of even mild illnesses or infections

Regular dental care, as FIV cats are prone to oral issues

4. Good Nutrition

Provide a balanced, high-quality diet

Avoid raw food diets to reduce risk of bacterial infections

5. Stress Reduction

Maintain a stable, calm environment

Avoid changes in routine and minimize interactions with aggressive animals

6. Parasite Prevention

Use flea, tick, and worm preventatives regularly—FIV compromises the immune system

7. Vaccinations

Some vets recommend a more conservative vaccine schedule—talk with your vet to tailor this to your cat

8. Companionship

FIV-positive cats can live with non-FIV cats if there is no fighting (transmission is usually through bites, not sharing food/litter)

I met Janka Skari tonight and gave her a trap that had been donated to Feral Fundraiser: Cyprus by Cynthia Smith of Mandry's Fund - Cyprus feral cat project . I also donated a cat carrier to Janka from Feral Fundraiser: Cyprus .

Janka has been helping cats in Cyprus for many years. Both items will get good use by her. Her trap recently broke.

for the animal issue here in . Something big really needs to happen here. If a big spay and neuter initiative paid for by the government and larger animal rescue organizations could be put forward, it would save and improve countless lives.

In the meantime, please consider supporting in Cyprus however you can. Mandry's Fund supports for many different rescuers in the island.

❣️ ❣️ Lily and Bonnie are 2 , approximately 12 weeks old . These are currently in in the Kiti ( ) area . We are hoping for a great for the sisters to live in . They are very bonded to each other. PLEASE HELP FIND THESE SWEET SISTERS A HOME ❣️ 🎸



Lily and Bonnie are gentle girls who are currently living in a large cage as there are many animals where the are being fostered. We hope to have them adopted soon. 🐈‍⬛🐈

📌 It is very difficult for cats to find homes in Cyprus as there are approximately 3 million cats in Cyprus and only about 1,370,754 people and as a culture, there are many Cypriots who do not like cats and think of them as vermin. , however the government of Cyprus and the general population don't put much importance to or give much attention to this issue despite the suffering of so many animals in Cyprus.

❣️ This rescue cattery is located in Vrysoulles in Cyprus. They especially need this August. It is really urgent. If you and can spare some time, they would be grateful. to care for all of these dear animals.

Please consider becoming a volunteer at Ella's blind cat sanctuary.
We already have some amazing people who volunteer, but there's always a need for more help. If you can help with the cleaning, if you're a trades person who can help with building/plumbing/electrics etc, or even just coming and spending time with the cats to help socialise them - if you can spare the time, it will be very much appreciated.

Mandry's Fund - Cyprus feral cat project covered Michael's neuter and supporter Marjo Austen is covering his vaccination, deworming and flea and tick spot on. Thank you so very much for this sponsorship ❣️ I have had Michael at the vet for two nights but need to get him into boarding.

Can you spare a few dollars or Euros to cover his boarding? Any dollars used, I will convert to euros to pay. Even $5 or 5 euros helps. I need to get Michael into boarding immediately.

📣 Feral Fundraiser: Cyprus is desperately and actively looking for a home for Michael. He is in a small colony of feral cats ( he was probably dumped there as he is so friendly). In the location he is in, it is not safe to be friendly and he can get hurt.
