𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗗𝗢𝗡’𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗬 𝗜𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗘 🤍

Following the recent passing of Bradley Burden and as today marks two years since we lost Dayle “Keeno” Keen, we’re reminded how deeply loss is felt across our hockey community.

These moments affect people in different ways. Teammates. Friends. Family. Supporters.

If you’re finding this time difficult, please remember that ReTribe is here.

We exist for what happens beyond the game.

For the conversations that don’t always happen in the locker room and for anyone who needs someone to speak to.

Our DMs are always open ❤️

As our momentum continues to grow with the release of new ReTribe ambassadors, we thought it was a good moment to remind people what ReTribe actually does.

ReTribe exists to reconnect people to the human side of the game. To build accountability, belonging and resilience in a way that is practical, sustainable and rooted in real relationships.

Here’s what that looks like in practice.

We build peer-to-peer support networks, small trusted tribes where players, coaches, officials and parents can connect honestly and hold one another accountable.

We deliver the Tough Through Tender programme, a transformational learning framework that teaches balance, emotional awareness and resilience, because real strength comes from understanding the full spectrum of our humanness.

We host ReTribe Retreats, three-day, face-to-face experiences that create space to reset, reflect and do the deeper work away from the noise of performance.

We run ReTribe Roadshows, bringing practical tools and cultural conversations directly into clubs and communities.

We create ReTribe Neutral Zones at events, safe spaces where anyone involved in the game can step away, decompress and reconnect.

And we deliver ReTribe Culture Camps, immersive experiences that explore the history of the game, how it has evolved, and how individuals and environments can elevate both performance and culture.

This is not about changing hockey for the sake of it. It is about supporting the people within it so that everyone can thrive.

We’re proud to welcome Patrick Larkin as a ReTribe ambassador.

When we first spoke with Bryan Larkin about collaborating with ReTribe through 60:30, he didn’t hesitate. He said what we’re building is much needed in our game and mentioned that his son Patrick would likely feel the same.

Patrick, currently playing at McGill University in Montreal and representing Great Britain, understood the vision straight away when we spoke in Edinburgh. He was keen to get involved and help carry this forward.

Patrick represents the next generation of hockey… smart, competitive, grounded and values-led. Exactly the kind of voice we want shaping a healthier culture in the sport.

Welcome to the tribe, Patrick! 🤝

We’re proud to welcome Great Britain and Guildford Lightning forward Beth Hill as ReTribe’s first women’s ambassador! 🤩

With over 20 years in British ice hockey and experience leading at club and international level, Beth understands the pressures of the game and the importance of honest support and connection.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to support ReTribe as an ambassador. Awareness of mental health is crucial, and having the chance to speak openly and without judgement is something our hockey community really needs.

ReTribe creates connection, accountability, and a supportive environment for players to find balance and purpose.”

Beth joins us as we continue building a support network for everyone in hockey.

The tribe is growing…

Please read this. It’s honest and heavy.

Paul Rushforth’s journey from professional hockey, through injury and addiction, to sobriety and brotherhood is one that deserves to be heard.

Here are Paul’s words.

“I was an NHL-signed hockey player who spent years grinding it out in the minors, chasing the dream. Along the way, I suffered 14 documented concussions that took a devastating toll on my physical health and, more importantly, my mental health. When my playing days ended, I spiraled. I went to rehab four separate times for alcohol and drug addiction. I was battling deep depression and, at my lowest point, suicidal thoughts. I felt lost, ashamed, and completely alone.

Everything changed after my last stint in rehab when I connected with Nick Rothwell. Nick didn’t just offer support, he showed up in a way that literally saved my life. He coached me through early sobriety, helped me rebuild my self-worth, and taught me how to start loving myself again after years of self-destruction. He understood the unique identity crisis and mental health struggles that come with life after pro hockey, especially when injuries and addiction are part of the story.

Through Nick, I became part of the ReTribe program — a powerful brotherhood of former professional hockey players who support each other openly and honestly. In ReTribe, we talk about the real issues: addiction, depression, purpose, identity, and healing. Knowing I’m not alone, being surrounded by men who truly understand this journey, has been life-changing. Nick and ReTribe have been instrumental in not only saving my life but helping me thrive in sobriety and in life beyond hockey. I am forever grateful.”

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗘 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗦! 🤝

We’re proud to welcome Fife Flyers and Great Britain Ice Hockey forward, Logan Neilson as our next ReTribe ambassador! 🙌

Logan was invited to represent ReTribe for two reasons that matter deeply to us.

1. Character
The way he shows up for people, gives his time and connects without performance or ego. That authenticity matters.

2. Lived experience
Transitions, pressure, expectation and change are part of the game. Logan understands those realities and the importance of support through them.

Logan will be the first Elite Ice Hockey League player to wear the ReTribe hat, a symbol of calm leadership, connection and a people-first culture in hockey.

We’re building this carefully.
Welcome to the tribe, Logan! 👏

Momentum is building and our tribe is growing, so now we keep moving! 👀

ReTribe | Testimonial

Hockey has a way of bringing people into each other’s lives long before we understand what anyone else might be carrying. Martin Jeneway’s reflection below speaks to friendship, change, and what it means to stay connected beyond the game.

Here are Martin’s words.

"I’ve known Nick Rothwell for most of my adult life through ice hockey. We first met at Gosport Ice Rink, literally in the changing room, before both of us went on to play for the Isle of Wight. I later captained the Isle of Wight team, with Nick as one of our standout players. He had great hands, worked hard, and brought the right attitude to the group.

At the time, I had no idea Nick was dealing with serious personal challenges off the ice. Years later, we crossed paths again at Basingstoke Ice Rink and it was clear how much had changed. He was clean, grounded, and in a very different place. That same evening he rang Dan Sweeney, put me on video, and the three of us spent a few minutes catching up and reflecting on how life had taken us all in different directions.

Today, Nick is leading ReTribe, and I am proud to be part of that group. ReTribe exists to support players and former players as they navigate life beyond hockey, whether that is through injury, mental health challenges, or simply losing the structure and camaraderie of the changing room. What many people miss most is not just the game, but the friendships, the banter, and the feeling of belonging.

What I value about ReTribe is that it is not performative. People can be fully involved when life allows, step back when they need space, and know the door is always open. There is a genuine sense that people look out for one another, without pressure or judgement.

Through ReTribe, that sense of connection and shared understanding is being rebuilt in a way that feels honest and sustainable. It is about staying connected as people, not just as players, and that is something our sport has needed for a long time. I am proud to be part of it, and proud to call Nick a friend."

Stories like this are why ReTribe exists. To protect connection, rebuild belonging, and make sure the friendships formed through the game don’t disappear when the playing days change.

Our Story

Re-Tribe is a community to help people out of isolation after a major life incident whether it's through divorce, illness, bereavement, loss of job or addiction. We create events and experiences to bring you out of the darkness, into a new life of friends, community and fun. We've experienced that the more we share our stories, the more we come together out of the isolation of our minds, our perceived shame and our homes, that we are not so alone after all.
