Our Korean translated book, "DBT Principles in Action," has been selected as one of the Books of the Year by the Korean government!

Along with the recognition, this award will enable this life-saving book to be made available to the public in local libraries nationwide.

Many thanks to my greatest collaborator, co-author, and beloved sister, Prof. JeeEun K. Nam - together, we made this important modality accessible to more people in our homeland!

“Loneliness is like hunger. When you’re hungry, it isn’t because you are undeserving of food. When you’re lonely, it also isn’t because you are undeserving of love.” In fact, it is a sign of health that you realize that something essential is missing. Do your best to take care of yourself, and your Korean Dad and Korean Therapist will do our best to be here for you 🤗

[PUBLICATION] "살아있는 DBT" - The Korean translation of Dr. Charles Swenson's esteemed "DBT Principles in Action: Acceptance, Change, and Dialectics"

Feelings can be overwhelming. They may get so intense and painful at times, that all we know to do is to repress them, push them aside "for later," and develop elaborate distraction strategies... until "blow ups" destroy relationships, cause harm to ourselves, destabilize our lives, and throw us into the pit fire of guilt, shame, and blame. It doesn't have to be that way. Fact is, none of us were born with the ability to effectively regulate emotions. You can change; you can effect change, too.

Clients, ask your clinician about DBT. Come find out why Dr. Sophia loves DBT, or dialectical behavior therapy, which has reliably helped hundreds of thousands of people across a wide spectrum of difficulties and cultural backgrounds.

Clinicians, especially those in Korea - you know that DBT is not for the faint of heart. This book's vivid illustrations of "core principles in action" will guide you to master flexible, skillful decision making in your moment-to-moment clinical interactions. Dr. Nam is here for you, to help you become the best therapist you can be.
