Squint in babies – what should you know? 👶👀 In the first months of life, it may seem like your baby’s eyes occasionally “wander” to the sides. Don’t worry – this is completely normal. 😌 It happens because the eye muscles are not yet fully developed.

What if it lasts longer? If the squint persists after the age of 6 months, it’s a good idea to consult a doctor. 🩺 Strabismus can be treated and the earlier, the better! Healthy vision can be supported with exercises, glasses or, in some cases, surgery. 👓✨

Today we mark World Cancer Day. 🌼 A day that reminds us how fragile our health is, and how important prevention and early care truly are.

You may be surprised to learn that cancer can also affect the eyes. 👀 Just a few decades ago, it was considered very rare. Unfortunately, it is becoming more common, and intraocular melanoma is among the most aggressive types of cancer.

Eye cancer may show warning signs such as changes in the shape of the eyelid or eye opening, changes in the colour of the conjunctiva or sclera, bulging of the eye, or worsening vision — blurred or cloudy. 👁️

One of the main risk factors is ultraviolet (UV) radiation. ☀️ We often protect our skin more than our eyes, even though they deserve the same level of care. Don’t forget to wear high-quality sunglasses with UV protection (UV 400). 😎

The increased risk particularly affects people over the age of 45, for whom regular eye examinations are absolutely essential. 👨‍⚕️ Early screening can detect problems before they begin to threaten your vision or your life.

What risks do your eyes face in winter? ❄️ Today, we’re focusing on those related to winter sports. Whether you’re heading out skiing, ice skating, snowboarding or sledging, high-quality sports goggles with UV protection should be an absolute must.

Many people still wear their regular prescription glasses for winter sports and that’s where we say: be careful! ☝️ There’s nothing worse than a glass shard in the eye. It can damage the eye’s structure, including the cornea, iris, lens and retina, and surgeries in such cases are often very complex.

A better option is wearing contact lenses, but even those can cause discomfort in winter due to cold air and dryness. That’s why we recommend investing in prescription sports goggles with UV protection, or even better, laser eye surgery. These eye care habits we're leaving in 2025! What about you? 👋😅

❌ Rubbing your eyes
It may bring short-term relief, but causes long-term trouble. Rubbing irritates the conjunctiva, worsens dry eye and can even lead to a stye.

❌ Wearing glasses bought online without an eye exam
Every eye is different. Incorrect prescription glasses can cause headaches, eye strain and poorer vision.

❌ Not removing eye make-up before bed
Leftover make-up in your lashes often means irritation, redness and tired eyes first thing in the morning.

❌ Sleeping in contact lenses
Not even “just for a while”. Your eyes don’t get enough oxygen and the risk of inflammation increases significantly.

❌ Removing eye make-up with wet wipes
A quick fix, but unnecessarily harsh on the eyes. They often just smear the make-up and strain the delicate skin around the eyes.

❌ Staring at your phone or computer without blinking
Dry, burning eyes are no coincidence. Blinking is essential. 😉

Wind is a great companion for walks in the fresh air, but it can also have some unwelcome side effects – especially for your eyes! 🌬️👁️

Strong wind can dry out your eyes, irritate them and cause redness, burning or even pain. If you spend a lot of time outdoors in windy weather, it may lead to conjunctival irritation, showing up as red or watery eyes. 😪 In extreme cases, wind can even worsen symptoms of dry eye or other eye conditions.

What can you do when wind starts to bother your eyes? 👇

1️⃣ Protect your eyes – sunglasses or protective glasses can help reduce direct contact with wind and dust.
2️⃣ Use artificial tears – these drops keep your eyes moisturised and help prevent dryness.
3️⃣ Avoid rubbing your eyes – even if they itch or burn, rubbing can make things worse.
4️⃣ Drink plenty of water – staying hydrated helps keep your eyes healthy.
