casakua A monthly anti-psychiatric group in Casa Kua.
The group is open, free of charge and explicitly for trans*/inter*/non-binary/q***r people affected by psychiatry.
Many of us face psychiatric violence over and over again.
There are hardly any offers to talk about one’s own experiences, feelings and traumatising experiences in psychiatry. Especially without having to be exposed to new psychiatric pressure. We want to offer a space for our community to exchange. We meet once a month on Wednesdays between 6 and 8 pm.
We welcome registrations in advance by email at:
antipsychiatricgroup@riseup.net
but this is not a prerequisite to participate.
The group is hosted by Echo (middle class, post-east-migrant, white, German passport, careleaver, non-binary, trans,) and Jamila (middle class, Afro- Austrian,
EU passport, genderfluid, non-binary).
They partially don’t have lived experience and partially have negative experiences with involuntary psychiatric treatment or psychiatric violence while transitioning.

The NADA protocol is a standardized form of acupuncture involving five ear points, administered in a specific setting. It has proven to be an effective treatment for individuals experiencing stress, trauma, or a wide range of mental health conditions.
NADA involves the gentle placement of up to five small, sterilized, disposable needles at specific points on each ear. Participants sit quietly in a group setting for
30-45 minutes and allow the treatment to take effect.
The NADA protocol was developed in the 1970s in New York’s South Bronx by members of the Black Panther Party and the Young Lords to address addiction within
Black and Puerto Rican communities.
Treatment using the NADA protocol can support people who:
want to better cope with daily stress suffer from stress or burnout symptoms are dealing with traumatic experiences experience restlessness or sleep disorders are managing chronic pain
are struggling with addiction or substance use (alcohol and or drugs)
are living with mental illness experience hyperactivity or eating disorderswant to stop smoking
There are no known medical contraindications. NADA is a non-verbal treatment method, meaning participants do not need to speak or share anything unless they choose
to.
We offer NADA sessions on Mondays at 18:00 for Q***r BIPoC, and on Thursdays at 18:00 for Q***r BIPoC and all Trans, Inter, and Nonbinary people.
Please check our Telegram channel or Instagram for the current monthly schedule.

BIPOC Healing Practitioners Intervision

For all BIPOC Healing Practitioners, across fields and methods, we will be hosting monthly exchange meetings to discuss various topics or challenges you experience in your practice in a confidential space. Alternating between online and in-person meet-ups, we will meet for 1.5 hours at 12:00, on the Second Sunday of each month. The in-person meet-ups will take place in Casa Kua, and open up from 13:30-15:00 to a BIPOC hangout that includes the bigger Casa Kua network and beyond— workshop facilitators, organisers and creatives, or those interested in getting more involved in those areas.

Each month, we’ll focus on a particular theme, but if something came up for you in a recent session that feels urgent to receive support and feedback on, you’re welcomed to bring that.

Next meet-up: 12:00-13:30 on Sunday December 14th
Location: ONLINE - please email zoya@casa-kua.com for the zoom link
Topic: Strategies for navigating working with people that we also share community spaces with.

❄️Cozy Holiday Hangout - BIPoC only❄️

At our next gathering, we’d love to invite you to spend a cute, cozy time together.
Right before the holidays and especially in this cold and often lonely times, it feels important to come together and create warmth for each other.

We want to chill, talk, and share our own alternative version of the holiday season. As part of that, we’d love to open the space for a small gift exchange. Everyone who wants to participate can bring something they already have at home but no longer need, like a book, a small item you’ve outgrown, or anything someone else might enjoy. Everyone who joins in will go home with a new little gift.
If you’d like to participate, feel free to bring something small. If not, that’s completely okay! Your presence alone is more than enough.

At the same time, we also want to hold space for those who’d like to talk about the topics Christmas, family, feelings or whatever is on your mind. The space is open for all kinds of conversations, shared joy or sadness and simply being together. We’ll have plenty of snacks, and you’re welcome to bring something too.

✨ Tuesday, December 2, from 7-9pm in Casa Kuà✨

We’re looking forward to spending a warm evening together with you.

Iskander, Trinity, Xavier & Elyar 💕

Feel Our Strength: Fitness into Grappling

Wedn. December 3, 18:00-21:00
For BIPoC Q***r and Trans folx

The workshop has a priority for integrating our relationship with our strength with softness and how these two qualities can be explored within grappling. We will begin with simple to intermediate fitness exercises and drills to strengthen and develop movement connection with our own body. Then we will explore fundamental skills of Grappling inspired by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) to learn how to be in physical practice of grappling together. With my dance background supported by Contact Improvisation, we will be extending and breaking apart BJJ exercises to make it more q***r friendly and non-practitioners of BJJ friendly. Innovative and creative problem solving from dance will support sustainability and collaboration. Let’s feel our strength together! No prior fitness, grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu experience is needed—just bring yourself, your enthusiasm, and your body ready to move and be moved.

Language: English

Please wear clothes that you feel good moving and sweating in. You can wear layers (long sleeves and fitness pants) or a t-shirt with shorts, so that you have options for what you might need at the moment. There will water and some small snacks— please bring anything more substantial that you might need. If you have mouthguards, you can bring that too.

About Makisig Akin (they/them): I am a q***r, transgender Filipino born choreographer, dance artist, facilitator, and activist. My work focuses on the recognition of intersectional identities, reconnecting with my ancestry, and decentralizing Western ideologies in dance making. My orientation to teaching is deeply interconnected with my training in Filipino Traditional Dance, Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Improvisation, walking meditation, Authentic Movement, Bouldering/Climbing, and Contemporary Dance. I examine how survival strategies can be translated into a communal physical practice, which I then use as a catalyst to a creative healing process.
