At Inclusive Care Choices, we know that “life skills” don't just magically appear and learning them are about giving young people the confidence, freedom, and capacity to shape their own lives.
And the truth? Every journey looks different.
For some of our young people, it starts with simply preparing a meal with support. Not just the cooking but choosing a recipe, writing a shopping list, heading out to buy ingredients, and building routines that make it possible again next week. That’s more than a skill. It’s self belief in action.
For others, it might be about learning how to manage their time using visual schedules, reminders, or daily routines that help reduce stress and bring a sense of calm and achievement.
We also focus heavily on building social skills, not through worksheets, but through real life, real world interactions that are fun, meaningful, and authentic. Whether it’s ordering lunch, chatting to peers at the local library, or joining a new community activity, we’re always supporting in the background, gently building up confidence.
Travel training is another big one. From riding the bus to navigating a train network, we go at their pace, empowering them to explore their world safely and independently.
And finally personal care. Brushing teeth. Managing hygiene. Choosing clothes. These daily tasks, while simple for some, are deeply complex for others. We approach every moment with patience, encouragement, and zero pressure.
Building on each of these skills are a part of a person first, neuroaffirming approach to care. We meet our participants where they are, support them as they grow, and celebrate every milestone along the way (no matter how small it may seem).
This is how we build independence together.
