🕉️ New month, new theme: Hanumān is the main source of inspiration for the classes I teach in March. 🐵
☀️As a child, Hanuman leaped toward the Sun, mistaking it for a mango 🥭. Indra, fearing cosmic imbalance, struck him with a thunderbolt (Vajra), breaking his jaw (Hanu). This moment was not just an injury—it was a turning point, an initiation:
1️⃣ Silence Before Speech: Hanumān became more disciplined after this event. His broken jaw symbolized a shift from impulsive action to mindful devotion.
2️⃣ Surya (the Sun) as his guru: Later, Hanumān sought Surya as his teacher. Surya, who once "burned" him, now illuminated his mind with the Vedas and sacred mantras. Hanumān always faced his guru while learning sacred wisdom. That's why we move backward while doing sun salutations. despite his broken jaw, Hanumān spoke these mantras with divine perfection, proving that true power lies in disciplined speech and devotion.
3️⃣ Mastery of Mantra: Through his training, Hanumān became a master of mantra, able to shift mountains, cross oceans, and invoke divine energies. His initiation under Surya wasn’t just learning—it was an alchemical transformation, refining his raw strength (Bala) into spiritual wisdom (Vidya).
Thus, Hanumān’s broken jaw marks the beginning of his path, where discipline, deep devotion, and wisdom shape his divine destiny.
