Happening today!
We would like to invited to attend an Association of Bodynamic Psychology Coffeegroup with James Nicholas on September 7, 2025 at 6 p.m. CET.
The topic of the meeting will be shame. Specifically, James will elaborate on the way shame is understood in the context of the Bodynamic Character Structure model with an emphasis on Existence and Will.
Participants will learn about how to identify and differentiate between shame as a human emotion, which is vital to preserving dignity, empathy, and a sense of responsibility and shame as a component of psychological defense which is destructive of self-esteem and linked to feelings of defectiveness, feeling “wrong”, and conditions of worth.
The group will discuss linguistic and behavioral markers of shame, as well as locate shame in the body where it is associated with specific physical sensations and thereby amenable to therapeutic intervention.
