The most controversial case in our Panoramic Radiology Scientific Day.

A 6-year-old boy was referred after an unusual finding on the panoramic radiograph.

Further 3D CBCT reconstruction revealed a very rare situation:

the question that triggered the debate among dentists was:

What exactly is this condition?
And more importantly…

What would be the correct management for a child at this age?

Early intervention?
Interceptive orthodontics?
Surgical exposure?
Or careful monitoring?

Cases like this remind us that panoramic radiographs sometimes reveal surprises that completely change the treatment plan.

42years old ,Adult patient.
Labially impacted UL canine.
CBCT revealed significant root resorption of the UL lateral incisor+ pain clinically .

At this point the treatment plan was not straightforward.

Several questions appeared:

• Do we try to erupt the canine orthodontically?
• Do we sacrifice the lateral and substitute the canine?
• If we bring the canine down… how do we manage the crown form?
• And how do we deal with the repeated debonding during traction?
Another interesting element in this case was the use of a material that helped the canine erupt during oeriod of detachment .

Now the case is almost finished. 👇

File separated 3–4 mm beyond the apex.

Bridge fabricated.
No time for retreatment.
