A liveaboard is not like a hotel, here are some things you should know before you go on one 🤿
No shoes 👟
This is mainly about cleanliness, shoes bring sand, rocks... which can damage the decks and make things dirty, and can also be slippery on wet decks. It is also boat etiquette and a sign of respect
No charging in the cabins 🔋
For safety reasons, charging batteries it is a fire risk. Charging is done in monitored areas so any issue can be controlled before it becomes serious 🔥
The bell 🔔
This is how the crew communicates when they need everyone's attention. If the bell rings, something is happening, an emergency, a dive briefing or food time
Safety briefings ⚠️
About the boat and diving procedures are done on arrival so everyone is on the same page, safety is to be taken seriously in these environments
No toilet paper in the toilet 🧻
Marine toilets have narrow pipes and clog easily so paper goes in the bin because no one wants a blocked toilet... gross!
Assigned spaces 🚧
Having your kit in your area helps keeping the deck organised and free of trip hazards, and they make life easier for divers and crew
Limited cabin space 🛏
Soft luggage and packing light really helps, you'll mostly live in your diving and swimming gear anyway
These are some of the most important things to know before you go on a liveaboard.
What else do you think is useful to know⁉️
Let me know in the comments 👀 and share this with your diving buddies so they are well prepared before their trip 🛥🤿
