Dealing with the Smile Line in Full Mouth Reconstructions with Dr. André Sakima and Dr. Peter Ilg from ZAGA Center São Paulo 🇧🇷

From their first contact with zygomatic implants decades ago to refining techniques in complex maxillary cases, they shared one clear message at Edentulism Conference 2025: “We need to address the smile line due to two factors: statics and prosthetics. And clinical examination is key.” 💡

Their session walked through real-world scenarios where the transition zone can make or break the outcome, and why the platform position and soft-tissue management must be planned around the patient’s smile dynamics, not just the CT.

Because as they showed, you can have a “perfect” surgery… and still end up with the wrong aesthetic result if the transition is visible.

🎤 Dr. Franck Renouard at Edentulism Conference 2025

In his lecture “Threats and Errors Management in Edentulous Maxillary Surgery: The Example of Zygomatic Implants”, Dr. Franck Renouard brought a rare and essential perspective to implant dentistry: how human factors, cognitive load, and routine behavior directly influence clinical safety in complex maxillary surgery.

Using real clinical scenarios, he explained why most complications occur not in complex cases, but during routine procedures, and emphasized the critical role of checklists, situational awareness, and non-technical skills in reducing risk.

In his lecture “Aiming for Success with Zygomatic and Pterygoid Implant Conservative Techniques”, Dr. Guy McLellan, ZAGA Center Cardiff, focused on anatomy-driven decision-making, conservative osteotomies, and the importance of preserving host bone and soft tissues to reduce complications and improve long-term outcomes.

His approach highlighted that success with zygomatic and pterygoid implants starts long before surgery, with careful planning, precise ex*****on, and prevention as a core principle.

In his lecture “Managing Complications in Full-Arch Implant Dentistry”, Nick Egbert shared a candid and experience-based perspective on complications in implant dentistry, focusing on real clinical scenarios and long-term responsibility toward patients.

Rather than presenting ideal cases, his talk highlighted the importance of honesty, self-reflection, and compassion, both with patients and with ourselves as clinicians.

✨ A moment to remember at Edentulism Conference 2025

On the third day of the conference, we came together for the Edentulism 2025 Conference Social Event, a special moment to slow down, connect, and simply enjoy each other’s company after intense days of science and learning.

Now, as the year comes to an end, we wanted to look back and remember that evening — the conversations, the laughter, and the shared sense of community that truly defines Edentulism. Moments like these are what turn a conference into a real experience 💙

🎤 Dr. Maxim Kopylov & Dr. Taras Yurov at Edentulism Conference 2025

In their lecture “A Systematic Approach for the Rehabilitation of the Atrophic Maxilla”, Dr. Kopylov and Dr. Yurov walked the audience through the clinical decision-making that guides full arch rehabilitation in severely resorbed maxilla.
Their session highlighted how modern protocols integrate prosthetic planning, surgical strategy, and biomechanics to restore both function and esthetics in even the most challenging cases.
