He emphasised that proper CBCT analysis and anatomical understanding are far more important than fixed angulation rules, because every pterygoid site is different. Technique, positioning, and respecting surgical landmarks are what ultimately define predictability.

Dealing with the Smile Line in Full Mouth Reconstructions with Dr. André Sakima and Dr. Peter Ilg from ZAGA Center São Paulo 🇧🇷

From their first contact with zygomatic implants decades ago to refining techniques in complex maxillary cases, they shared one clear message at Edentulism Conference 2025: “We need to address the smile line due to two factors: statics and prosthetics. And clinical examination is key.” 💡

Their session walked through real-world scenarios where the transition zone can make or break the outcome, and why the platform position and soft-tissue management must be planned around the patient’s smile dynamics, not just the CT.

Because as they showed, you can have a “perfect” surgery… and still end up with the wrong aesthetic result if the transition is visible.

In their lecture “A Systematic Approach for the Rehabilitation of the Atrophic Maxilla”, Dr. Kopylov and Dr. Yurov walked the audience through the clinical decision-making that guides full arch rehabilitation in severely resorbed maxilla.
Their session highlighted how modern protocols integrate prosthetic planning, surgical strategy, and biomechanics to restore both function and esthetics in even the most challenging cases.
