Most of us are resting wrong. 🛑
Have you ever spent the entire evening on the couch, only to wake up the next morning feeling like you never slept?
There is a massive difference between distraction and restoration.
When we “veg out” in front of a screen or scroll through a mall, we aren’t actually resting our brains. We are simply switching from one type of overstimulation to another. Your nervous system is still processing data, reacting to blue light, and chasing dopamine hits.
True rest is a physiological state. To live a High Quality Life, you have to learn how to shift your body from “Fight or Flight” into “Rest and Digest.” This doesn’t happen by accident; it happens when we consciously reduce the “input” we are giving our brains.
Listen!
If it requires your eyes to move fast (scrolling) or your brain to process information (complaining/planning), it’s not rest. It’s sensory load.
Try this instead:
🌳Nature: Lowers cortisol almost instantly.
👃🏻Nasal Breathing: Signals safety to your brain.
📚Reading: Focuses the mind without the “flicker” of a screen.
👁️Body Scan: Reconnects your head to your body.
Stop trying to “numb out” and start trying to “fill up.” Your energy levels (and your family) will thank you for it. 🧘♀️✨
