Courage first, confidence later.

Much like action preceeds motivation,

Confidence comes after the courage to DO.

It's easy to get this mixed up.

To wait for the confidence to do the thing.

Sure there are tools to use and skills to develop.

But the first call of action is... taking action.

Despite how we feel.

It's through action where we learn the most.

Then - refining and developing the skillset.

Then - adding drops of feedback.

Then - finessing the details.

But none of these matter if we don't find the courage to do first.

The people I've seen make (by far) the most progress in any area, are those who aren't afraid to look stupid or to make mistakes.

Who don't let their ego stand in the way.

The ones who understand that confidence is grown through providing evidence to themselves.

Through the doing.

They own it.

They feel nervous like everyone else, but they take action.

They use courage.

Their confidence grows.

Then their ability and performance skyrockets.

We cannot build confidence without doing the reps first.

If you don't feel ready, it's the perfect time to start.

Take the action.

Gain the confidence.

Perform on another level.

Don't wait to feel ready.

Until you feel confident.

Confidence isn't as we've been taught.

You are either have it or you don't.

Like that's the benchmark for who we are or what we should do.

No.

The truth is very different.

Confidence is like a muscle.

It builds through reps.

It grows over time.

Through stretching ourselves.

Through challenge and by discomfort.

Just because we aren't confident in an area doesn't mean it has to stay that way.

Confidence grows as we take action.

The more we put ourselves into new situations.

The more we stray from the comfort zone.

The more we practice the given thing.

The more mistakes we are willing to make.

This is what grows confidence in any area.

Step by step, action and repeat.

Some of the best althetes, speakers, and entrepreneurs started without feeling confident.

But over time through constant action their confidence grew.

As they gave themselves more & more evidence that they take action and learn.

It went from strength to strength.

If you feel you're lacking confidence in an area of your life

You can completely change that.

Start small, do the reps, stay consistent.

An Evening With Running Minds 🏃🏼‍♀️🧠

'A Purpose in Wellbeing'.

Thank you to everyone that came on Wednesday 🙏🏻

I felt so grateful to be able to put on this event and to meet so many open-minded and curious people.

Not only did I have the opportunity to share a talk, I also learned many wonderful insights from others.

Sharing with vulnerability, going deeper in conversations, showing up for others.

This is what true connection is.

We covered a lot.

From building key habits to creating more purpose.

To the power of reframing and having community.

I'm excited to see where Running Minds takes us next!

Since starting Running Minds this year I've been reflecting more.

Where I've grown and what I've changed over the last several years.

Here are a few things that I wish I'd learned earlier.

1. Spending quality time alone. Walk, explore, travel workout, be bored. It's the single best way to process & understand ourselves better.

2. Focusing on health. Quality health makes everything else in life better. It's the table that everything else sits on. With good health we are already rich.

3. The best way to get out our own head is to help someone else. Often with the same problem we're stuck on. Not only is it kind but its one of the best ways to reduce our own stress, worry & anxiety. Service.

4. Enjoying the process. Goals are important but nowhere near as much so as the path that takes us there. Be present for it.

5. 99% of problems are outside of our control. Knowing this and acting accordingly makes life a ton easier - and better!

6. Asking for help or seeing therapist shows strength, not weakness. It's a sign we want to heal or grow not that there is something wrong with us.

7. Make more time with friends. Pick up the phone. Tell them you love them. Keep them on the journey with you. Be on theirs with them.

8. We don't experience life, we experience the life we focus on. Choose wisely.
