Mudras are a powerful tool in yoga that activate our energy flow through our hand gestures during meditation

Yoni mudra is one of my personal favourite as it relates to every aspect of a woman’s life keeping their hormones in balance at every milestone
🖐🏻
During pregnancy I would practice it to transmit the meditative calmness to my baby and now post pregnancy as a means to keep the uterus in optimum condition 🤰🏻🤱🏼

Being a mother brings constant nights of interrupted sleep, overworked body and mental exhaustion

Paschimottanasana (intense seated forward bend) is therefore one of my favourite asanas to include in my practice as it induces surrender and relaxation, in turn compensating for the lost hours of sleep

The lengthening of the spine allows to maintain a healthy back which gets compromised from hours of breastfeeding
🤱🏼
Post delivery it works wonderfully well for reducing fat around the waist area and promoting overall weight loss

This sanskrit term stands for ‘education in the womb’. In Ayurveda it is said that a baby’s mental and behavioral development begins right from the time they are conceived

The mother’s state of mind and activity therefore has a huge impact on the child during pregnancy. The baby responds to outside influences while in the womb such as sounds, mother’s thoughts and feelings

Garbh Sanskar hence involves a set of practices such as reciting certain mantras to your baby, performing yoga asanas, meditating and eating a healthy Ayurvedic diet

One of the most challenging things postpartum was to build back my core strength

The struggle was definitely real but on the bright side your body comes back much stronger, the effects of which are reflected in your daily practice

Old school utensils such as clay and copper however hold therapeutic benefits whether used for cooking or eating your meals

While glass and steel are fairly neutral, coated or non-stick pans are detrimental to the health of your skin and can result in issues such as chronic acne

In yoga the connection between the guru and the shishya (student) is fundamental as there is an exhange of energies at every level of the students practice & it is this phenomenon that allows the person to in turn blossom in their own journey

While we are taught and shoved into a competitive environment where we are expected to excel at everything that we do, my Guruji beautifully explained that the first 25 years of a person’s life should actually be dedicated to learning how to be happy 😊

The next 25 years are for experimenting and empowering the individual to choose the path of their dreams and passion, one which brings them utmost joy and fulfillment 🤩
☘️
The last 25 years should then be dedicated to teaching the younger generation your experience of how to be happy and guiding them in an enriching journey of their own 🛺
☘️
If this approach were adopted as opposed to the conventional one where we are put under constant stress a person’s mental and physical health would naturally be maintained 🧘🏻‍♀️
☘️
In this Yoga Day I’d like to reach out to all those with children at home to reflect at what approach they adopt as this accounts for the future of the wellbeing of the next generation and its impact at a global level 🌏
