Summer is flying by so fast. Let's slow it down with a little visit to early June and just take time.

The season started with a flash of an idea and some last-minute plane tickets to Palma. A whim and the welcoming arms of ...An opportunity to celebrate one of my favorite times of the year in my favorite way, before the mountain yoga season began...

And my goodness, did this island welcome me. Beckon me with its sweet sun and lapping waves. Lure me into cobblestone alleyways hiding delightful gems. Sultry summer air whispering in one ear, salty breeze singing songs into the other. Laughter between the waves and casual yoga tutorials amidst sips of wine. What a privilege to experience even a small part of this island and discover some of her secrets through the eyes of ... I do wonder if and when the rolling hills and Mediterranean shores will call me back.

It's planted the seed for some beautiful experiences to come. What do you think... would you enjoy the lushness of a yoga retreat and exploration in Mallorca?

It's about time you remember who you are.

I see you. In all your radiance, like the sun shining high on this longest day of the year.

More importantly, I invite you to step back and see yourself.

Your multi-faceted brilliance
Your fullness
The natural power of your presence

You are not forgotten.

The light within you is just waiting for the right invitation to get brighter. (The only invitation that *really* matters: the one you give yourself)

So remember who you are.

It's time to celebrate even the tiny victories within. I truly believe what we celebrate grows, so what happens when you finally start celebrating You, one brilliant bit at a time?
. . . .

Today in yoga class, we fumbled and joked through a heat-building, playful flow. We celebrated one member for holding her longest crow pose yet. We celebrated another member for making it to class, which can often feel like the hardest part. I celebrated saying the correct body part in a cue (years of teaching but some days it's just like that). Apparently no one celebrated dolphin pose 🤣 but I have faith. The replay is going up on my site later this afternoon!

Whether you join me and our growing crew for a live class or choose to move at your own pace, I'm here for you. Inviting you to come back home to yourself. So you can remember who you are, radiance, silliness, complexity, joyfulness, and all.

It's been quiet here, though bustling behind the scenes. A lesson, or mantra even, that's come forward and that I would love to share with you: I can stay open, even here.

Whether balancing precariously or feeling like my arm is twisted behind my back, I can stay open here.

When my worries outweigh my smiles and it feels easier to crumple up in a ball, I remember that I can stay open, even here.

When my heart aches or pangs and all I want to do is contract, get quiet, and shrink, I let myself feel the vulnerability of it all. And even here, I show my heart that I can stay open.

But why? Why stay open in my heart and body when everything around me tells me to close up?

Well, that's where the wisdom is. From an open mind and open heart is where I am (open) to receive: lessons, gifts, joys.

It's where I get to show my heart & nervous system that, yes love, you are safe here in this body. Yes even when it feels that vulnerable or leaves me that emotional. Yes, even here.

This root chakra level of safety and peace doesn't come from anything outside me. No, the source of strength resides within. The peace is within me. The trust is within me. The discernment is within me. Staying present and open when it feels 'better' to distract, contract, or run away leads me to trust my experience and take a step forward from peace rather than fear.

So even when my breath quickens and my worries spin around my mind, I let it be a practice in presence. Breathing slowly into my heart, I soften my belly, stretch out my arms, and I remember: I can stay open here too.

Change comes after the fire. There is often sadness in letting go and shedding the old layers, but there is also relief. Beauty, even, if you can find it.

This full moon in Aries caught me embracing the element of fire (Aries being the first fire sign of the zodiac). All the ways you can play with it and all the ways it can burn you. All the ways fire transforms.

Change sometimes feels more like destruction. Try as we might, reminding ourselves that the phoenix within each of us always comes after the fire doesn't always help. Let me remind you, that's ok. The rising is just as true and as deeply felt as the falling.

Our resilience isn't gone, it's simply there waiting for us. To feel. To move through the hurt, pain, grief, overwhelm, or other rawness that the fire of change brings up. So feel it. Yell at the moon if you must (and really, sometimes you must).

When you're ready, when the dust settles and the dirt around you is rich with ash and nutrients, the light will seem brighter. Fresh green will sprout from the soil. That inner phoenix will rise, soft with new wings yet growing stronger with the wind. Taking only the lightness of wisdom and the deep strength of heart.
These photos were from a crux moment during my summer road trip. In late August, the wildfire season already seemed to be at its peak. We arrived in Crater Lake National Park at sunset, only to find the caldera blanketed in smoke. Nearly deserted, with smoke billowing into the lake, it felt somehow like we had stepped back in time. As the moon rose over the mountain crest, it felt like a gift that we got to secretly peek at and an ominous warning at the same time.

We chose to camp elsewhere that night, and in that decision the journey changed completely. Different direction, different destinations, a brand new path. It resulted in one of our worst nights....and then...what followed were so many of our greatest days, nights, and memories. It's like the moon knew.

Time for a fresh perspective on things. It could be the changing season and these cool autumn mornings. Or all these planets in retrograde. Or simply the start of a new week. It sure feels like a good moment for looking at it all with new eyes.

For me that often looks like getting upside down. Legs up the wall. A stretchy, long held downward dog. Hopping up into (attempted) handstands. Even returning to headstands, the old trusty. These literal shifts in perspective are a way to feel connected to my core, strong in my arms and back, and making shapes with my legs and feet. Lately it's been a way to feel playful in my body.

Meanwhile, perspective shifts continue to happen off the mat too. Taking a break from social media 😉 Stepping outside to feel a sense of wonder in all the little details of nature. Or turning inward by journaling through old patterns and questioning limiting beliefs. Trying ideas and mindsets on for size like a new coat. Breathing slowly in meditation, sitting in the discomfort of the liminal. Learning what it feels like to expand into the new.

Can you give yourself space to breathe new life into the same routine, space to try on a new view? Notice what you would LOVE to invite into your experience this week. Every bit of it is happening for you, my friends.
Photo is from many seasons ago courtesy of 🙌 but is inspired by a weekend of doing new things and playing around in headstands at home 😘

What does being in your full expression mean to you? Is it a moment, something you progress towards and arrive at? Or is it a movement, a way of flowing through? Is it facets of your being or the culmination of all the details?

For me, living in full expression is a deeply embodied feeling. The reach of my body as I move, the energy stretching past the edge of my skin, the deeply rooted presence. Living in my full expression feels like a journey yet also a constant vibrance. An invitation of expansion and a resting place at home all the same. Maybe it's simply noticing my own aliveness. Whatever it is, embodying my full expression feels so in tune, like the magic of the world is blossoming before me, around me, within me.

Continually learning from the expansive nature of the world. I'm feeling short of words at the moment, as I pour myself into a couple new reflections for my yoga members (y'all will get two this month!) 🥰

For now, enjoy a few shots from my recent national parks road trip, and swipe to the last slide to see where the road eventually led us! I'll leave you with something I picked up from and her podcast "Field Notes For Belonging," some words from one of my fave authors:

Life is a garden, not a road.
We enter and exit through the same gate.
Wandering, where we go matters less than what we notice.

Sometimes you end up somewhere completely unexpected, and it's more wonderful than you could have ever planned for.

The sun shines brighter for a moment, and you become immersed. Aware of the wind through your hair, the sounds lapping at your ears, the temperature on your skin.

Maybe it comes from a big thing, or maybe it simply sneaks up on the back of the daily little details.

But here you are. Full. Grounded yet weightless at the same time. In awe of how you arrived at this present moment. Breathing it all in. Mmm, this is living.

I've never been naturally graceful at accepting compliments. While I often ask for feedback or leave space for questions, I used to feel so clunky and awkward to gather testimonials. Often I still do, which is why I don't really ever ask, though it feels like a kind of shyness I'm learning to get over as a business owner.

Truly, it brings me so much joy to hear that this practice and my offerings have made a positive difference in someone's day or life. That something they learned in a class helped them feel better or more at home in their body, mind, or heart. So when a friend recently left me a review for my yoga classes, I was blown away! Support really finds us in these perfect moments. We simply have to allow ourselves to receive it. Thank you sweet friend for your thoughtfulness and taking the time to voice your support!

This is how I'm spending the last day of my 33rd year: practicing the art of receiving. Letting my heart remain open for support, beauty, inspiration, and opportunity to arrive. Immersing in the energy of receiving with grace and gratitude. So much of this practice is *gratitude* and tuning our energy towards being open to abundance.

So that's where I'll be on this eve of my personal new year: acknowledging the wins, observing the lessons learned, and taking the time to call forward the ways I have grown in 2021 so far. It feels gratuitous, and well that's the point. Acknowledge how far you've come. In whatever way that looks, whether big or subtle. Give your wins and your growth space to be celebrated! This is where you'll find me. Being in gratitude, full-bodied.

When the waves of life swell to extremes, can you speak to yourself with a firm gentleness? Can we treat ourselves with an overwhelming compassion as we are guided through?

Sometimes it shows up as things happening around us all at once, like being caught in a tempest. At times it's a raging fire within. Whatever the catalyst, when that tumultuous moment arrives, we look in panic to others to save us, distract us from the ups and downs, not always realizing we're the ones holding the answer to our own relief. (By all means, ask for help, I simply mean to notice if we turn towards external sources to fix us, when we are actually the one we are looking for.)

*WHAT IF* the extremes could be an invitation to balance, a reminder to grab a warm coat, the safety jacket of your inner steadiness? Wear it draped over your shoulders or immerse yourself in the protection it offers from the elements. Notice how much strength, focus, serenity it gives you to weather the storms and douse the flames.

*WHAT IF* we honored the unexpected, bowed down to the wisdom of the lessons revealed before us?

Be kind to yourself. It's easy and completely natural to get caught up in the anxiety of what to do, panic freezing us from how to respond. Permission to slow down, breathe deeply, and take a hefty dose of self-compassion can feel like fighting against the current of inner turmoil. Keep leaning into it anyway, let it be a steadying hand to help you break the old habits and mental spirals. Sometimes this looks like not making yourself wrong for trying, no matter the outcome. Finding the tools or things to snap you back into a loving inner space takes curiosity and openness, both of which can be hard when we're playing the edge of discomfort.

Feel free to share what helps you connect to your inner steadiness, the compass that keeps you aligned when life's ebbs and flows feel bigger. I'd love to read your comments about them 💓
