If you’re sleeping and eating well this Christmas break but still feeling exhausted it’s because you’re getting the wrong type of rest!

This was me.
Even with time off, something felt off.
Not exhausted in an obvious way.
Just flat. Wired. Never fully rested…

I wasn’t lacking sleep because I slept (a lot)!
I was lacking real rest.

Because rest isn’t stopping.
Rest is coming out of survival mode.

See if this feels familiar:

* Lying down but your mind keeps racing
* Resting but still feeling on edge
* Slowing down but feeling guilty
* Exercising to “stay on track” even when your body feels heavy

Your body pauses.
Your nervous system doesn’t.

Your body isn’t saying “sleep more”.
It’s saying: stop overriding me.

Most high-functioning people miss 3 types of rest:

1. Nervous system rest (your body feels safe to soften)
2. Mental rest (no planning, fixing, deciding)
3. Somatic rest (being with your body without pushing)

Miss one and you stay in survival mode, even on holiday.

This isn’t laziness.
And it’s not a mindset issue.

It’s a nervous system one.

When was the last time you felt truly alive in your body and not just in your head?

It’s the simple days that often change everything.

A sunrise swim, a few minutes of meditation, real food, laughter, movement, small pauses, and a view that reminded me how good it feels to be present.

It’s not about perfection.
It’s about intention, the little choices that keep you balanced, calm, and connected.

This is the foundation of how I live and what I teach:

Do you feel guilty when you rest?

If rest feels uncomfortable, it’s not because you’re “too driven.”
It’s because your nervous system learned that slowing down is unsafe.

I used to believe rest = laziness.
If I wasn’t producing, achieving, helping, or proving my value, I felt not enough.

That belief (plus the perform, perfect, impress culture around us) pushed me toward burnout in 2024.

I didn’t hit the wall, my body dragged me.
Chest pressure. Exhaustion. Emotional numbness. Confusion.
I finally stopped.
And for the first time, I listened.

I made rest a non-negotiable pillar in my life and my work.

And here’s the part that shocked me:

* My creativity returned
* My energy came back
* Clients came with ease
* Money flowed while I rested
* Even my body changed once I stopped forcing it

Rest didn’t slow me down.
It made me clear, confident, and grounded.

When you learn to regulate your nervous system, you don’t need to hustle for your worth anymore.

The 8 pillars we practice in rcnnctd aren’t concepts, they are a way back home to your body.

Start simple:

* 10 minutes of evening wind-down
* 5 minutes of sunlight in the morning

When life feels heavy, I come back to this.

This weekend was tough.
I took one day just for me, rest, good food, nature.
The next day with friends, laughing, sharing, remembering who I am.

By Monday, I felt lighter and clearer.

That’s the power of rest, nature, community, and nourishment.
They’re not luxuries, they’re essentials.
They’re also part of what I share in my coaching program, because they work!

What if the tightness in your body isn’t about your posture… but about your past?

You stretch.
You train.
You try to relax.

But sometimes the tension won’t let go.

The jaw stays clenched.
The shoulders stay tight.
The body stays on guard.

Because trauma doesn’t just live in your mind - it lives in your body.

And when we learn to listen, when we give the body what it needs…
that’s when real peace, real connection becomes possible.

What if happiness isn’t what happens when life is perfect but what you choose, even in the storm?

Your partner left you?
How long will you stay in pain because someone else walked away?

You lost the job?
What if it’s not rejection… but redirection?

This isn’t about pretending things don’t hurt.
It’s about not letting them define how you live.

Life will throw things at you. That part’s not optional.
But how you handle it? That’s always your choice.

I used to wait for joy to come after the exam, the apology, when things are calmer.
But it doesn’t work like that.

Peace doesn’t come from perfect circumstances it comes from presence.
From choosing again. And again. And again.

If you’re in the middle of it, try this:

🔸 Pause. Notice the story you’re telling yourself - is it true or just familiar?
🔸 Ask: What am I learning? What’s the opportunity here?
🔸 Let yourself feel, but don’t let it trap you
🔸 Choose to move forward - even if it’s difficult

Even when things don’t go to plan, you decide how to meet the moment.

Life will end. That part’s guaranteed.
But how you live until then? That’s yours to decide.
