One year!! 🥂🎉🥳💯 We made it - and it felt like that was in question at some points! 😅
This past year, focused on my new family, has come with challenges. Some predictable (what is sleep?! 💤). Some not. I'd heard of postpartum depression, but I wasn't prepared for the crippling anxiety...
We managed a beautiful, intervention free birth - which I largely feel the breathing practices in yoga equipped me to do. I can honestly say giving birth was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. And I feel lucky to say so.
In the weeks and months that followed, I gradually gained a new best friend. Robin, you are an absolute delight, brilliant ball of joy, unfathomably kind, unashamedly loving and fully enthusiastic for life. You've made me engage with each day with more rigor, commitment and appreciation throughout this year than I ever have in my life. I'm keeping that lesson.
Through my postpartum journey, my hormones wreaked havoc. I'm grateful to my yoga practice for giving me a strong physical and mental foundation to start from, yet the demands of a newborn offer little space for yoga, let alone sleep. In this year I've experienced intensely challenging anxiety, insomnia and inexplicable lows. I'm grateful to my family for their love, and my husband for his unwavering patience.
We're not through it yet, but as Robin turns one, and we enter the new year, I'm excited for what comes next. Nursery for Robin, and a gradual transition back to work for me - which means more yoga for you!!!
That's to say - there's some good things coming in 2026, so stay tuned. We've missed you all, but we're so grateful to you for allowing us this year with our new family.
Cheers! 🥂🎉
