Lofty pines amid the golden mist, stand, unwavering, to disappear.
According to the Taoist life sciences the human is a reflection of the universe and vice versa. In each grain of sand and each cell within our body we can find the secrets of the universe just before or eyes, not hidden, but in plain sight. And yet it is often only in scenes like the one in this image that we feel like we've come upon something sacred and magical. In nature there is poetry. In naturalness there is wisdom.

wine and other bottles to make candles. First try and they work pretty well, though have to work on a few details... Last picture is of one of the various twig lamps I've made to diffuse the candle light so we can see at night and have a nice ambiance.

Wood work for our improvised kitchen. Pictures of the temporary version coming soon. Let me tell you, it's not easy this change, but mainly because you can't go from on grid to off grid in just one step. Half of the time I'm worried about finances not working out, but then I figure, if I don't full heartedly try, I will never know and always regret. Living out in the middle of nowhere without my own car means I'm limited in movement, but actually that doesn't bother me too much... I'll talk about some of the other challenges in the next few posts, so stay tuned.

It's almost a house... Just a small space for us to wait out the winter and get started on our land, away from the madness of consumerism, away from the painful separation of us and nature; towards a better relationship between earth human and heaven, towards peace in our hearts and minds, towards health in the soil and body, towards love and compassion unlimited...

While Rafa is preparing our abode, I'm learning more and more about , especially (and sweet potato recipes). This tropical dish contains Jackfruit, pumpkin, raisins and chickpeas as a mild, almost bland curry, and local spinach (or just green leafy stuff) topped with the tomato salsa I showed in a previous post, blended with a handful of fresh parsley. The result is astonishingly , almost and totally / . The more time I spend , the more I appreciate it as a form of art and spiritual practice, opening us up to a deeper relationship with our nature, and bringing consciousness into the act of sustaining health and well-being through food. What do you think?
