Dr. Yihalem Tamiru Semegn holds a Ph.D. in Food Science and Nutrition, along with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Public Health, all from Addis Ababa University. With nearly 15 years of experience, he specializes in public health, food science, and nutrition, focusing on School Food and Nutrition, Food Safety, and Hygiene. His research has been published in prominent journals, including the Journal of Nutritional Science and Clinical Nutrition Open Science. Dr. Yihalem served as a national consultant for HIV/AIDS counseling and testing with the World Health Organization for three years. He was the Senior HCT HIV/AIDS Advisor at JHU-TSEHAI, working closely with the Ministry of Health. Additionally, he has led the national expert group on the HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing Technical Working Group for over six years. His diverse experience includes roles as a public health analyst at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute and as Nutrition Manager for EOTC-DICAC. Most recently, Dr. Yihalem was Chief of Party/Program Director for a USAID HIV Epidemic Control Grant, where he managed resources and implemented strategic programs to combat the HIV epidemic and support vulnerable children through Love in Action Ethiopia.
