ERAS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Ethiopian Association of Anesthetists in collaboration with Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital Mekelle University, and the Ministry of Health Medical Service Lead Executive office, has officially launched an ERAS Quailty improvement innitiative and a five day CPD training program running from November 24 - 25, 2025.
30 multidisciplinary surgical workforce including experts from Surgery, Anesthesia workforce, Physiotherapy, Nursing (OR, Recovery, Ward, Surgical OPD), Gynecology/Obstetrics, Midwifery, Nutrition, the Quality Office, and the Directorate and Matron Offices are actively participating.

The opening session featured welcoming remarks from Dr. Abraha Gebregziabher, Chief Clinical Director of Ayder Hospital. This was followed by an introduction to the ERAS concept and presentation of baseline findings by Amare Hailekiros, ERAS Project dirctor.

The ERAS initiative is set to play a key role in improving surgical care quality at Ayder CSH reducing complications, enhancing recovery, and improving overall patient outcomes. The strong multidisciplinary engagement demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening perioperative care and delivering better results for our surgical patients.

በባህር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ጥበበ ጊዮን ሆስፒታል የ ERAS ስልጠና እና የኦዲት ስርዓት ትግበራ እየተካሄደ ነዉ።
የኢትዬጽያ አነስቴዥያ ባለሙያዎች ማህበር (EAA) ከጤና ሚኒስቴር እና ባህርዳር ዩንቨርሲቲ ጥበበ ጊዮን ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል ጋር በመተባበር የቀዶ ጥገና ህክምና አገልግሎት ጥራትን ለማሻሻል ያለመ ስልጠና እየተሰጠ ይገኛል።
​በዚህ መርሃ-ግብር፡-
Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS): ታካሚዎች ከቀዶ ጥገና በኋላ ፈጣን የማገገም ሂደት እንዲኖራቸው የሚያስችል የህክምና ፕሮቶኮል ስልጠና ለቀዶ ጥገና ቡድኑ እየተሰጠ ነው።
​በተጨማሪም ሆስፒታሉ የሚሰጠውን አገልግሎት ጥራት ለመለካት፣ መረጃዎችን ለመተንተን እና በዳታ የተደገፈ ውሳኔ ለመስጠት የሚያስችል የኦዲት ስርዓት ለመዘርጋት የሚያስችል የድጋፍ ስልጠና እየተካሄደ ነዉ።
​ይህ ፕሮጀክት በ "Pfizer Global Medical Grants" ድጋፍ የሚከናወን ሲሆን፤ የቀዶ ጥገና ሐኪሞች፣ የአነስቴዥያ ባለሙያዎች እና ነርሶች በጋራ በመሆን ለታካሚዎች ደህንነት እና የተሻለ የህክምና ውጤትን ለማምጣት የሚያሰችል አቅም ለመገንባት የታቀደ ነው፡፡

Smart Audit System: We have officially launched a clinical audit system to monitor performance and drive data-based quality improvements in our operating theaters.

Great news from the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital 🎉

The Ethiopian Association of Anesthetists, the Federal Ministry of Health, and the University of Gondar have launched the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) training program to improve surgical quality and patient recovery across Ethiopia.

Over five days, 40 surgical workforces including surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses are taking part in practical, project-based sessions to strengthen perioperative care and patient outcomes.
