Campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa-CARMMA

Campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa-CARMMA Africa Cares: No woman should die while giving life! The Campaign was launched in May 2009 within the context of the Maputo Plan of Action (MPoA).

Although maternal and child health indicators are improving globally, women and children continue to die from preventable or treatable causes. The Campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa (CARMMA ) was initiated by the African Union Commission to address the challenges of maternal mortality in African countries. The MPoA underscores the need to reduce maternal mortality and achieve progress in the attainment of the MDGs.
