I have spend last 3 days in Denmark. First at Højbo Ranch and next at Roeldogbakken.

We have had opportunity to herd rewilding -projects cattle and help creating effective ways to use working kelpies to handle them.
We have met wonderful people and intresting dogs, and I have 4 dogs team with me.

It has been great to shake off the dust of the long winter from the dogs body and mind! We live so north that there is no access to fields for several months, and dogs do mostly inside work in barns.

Tomorrow we continue to Germany and Belgium to give herding clinics and meet more Kelpies!

Our livestock qurdian, abbuzzese and maremma sheep dog Mareus Supermodel "Ylva" was also in x-rays, all good! She is very social with people & dogs, but has been effectively quarding her sheep flock in challenging conditions against wolf packs & bobcats.
I hope to find her a good male to breed when she is a bit older, so we can have our next generation of guardians growing in our own sheephouse, but there might be coming working livestock qurdians for other farmers too. Stay tuned!

So happy! Kelmi Bonny Lass is my perfect little warrior, attentive, always willing to please, extremely strong and fearless on livestock. An old soul.
Allready excellent working dog, and picks new tasks and commands so fast, I always wonder when and who is training with her? And today her x-rays came perfect 💚. On autumn she has hopefully got kilometers on work and we go to breeding test.
My goal was to get a bitch pup that can give Gudrun her retirement. Her dam Gudrun is soon 9yrs , still in pristine condition, but she will not be that forever. Future looks very good 😊.

Paimennuksesta ja tästä kaverista on vuoden mittaan muotoutunut vahva osa meidän elämää 🥰

Ennen Danin saapumista tuli tehtyä monia asioita vanhalla rutiinilla ja ajateltua, että näin se vain menee. Reilu vuosi sitten alettiin tämän kaverin kanssa oppimaan uutta, epäonnistumaan, kokeilemaan uudelleen, epäonnistumaan uudelleen ja pikkuhiljaa onnistumaan enemmän. Näin ollen voisi sanoa, että samaan aikaan kun koira oppi paimentamaan meillä, niin me olemme käyneet korkekoulua paimeniksi.

Monet kysyvät, missä tämä kaveri sitten auttaa, niin tässä muutamia esimerkkejä, joissa säästetään monia askelia ja paikataan puuttuvia käsiä ja jalkoja pihatolla;

♡ Pihatosta karanneen vasikan palautus. Dani hakee vasikan ja minä pidän porttia pihattoon valmiiksi auki.

♡ Laumojen siirto pihatossa. Riittää, että ollaan kahdestaan perämiehinä. Kurveissa koira hoitaa myös kaarteet ja kulmat.

♡ Työrauha. Kun jotain pitää korjata tai vaikka poikimakarsinaa siirtää, Dani pitää lehmät poissa "auttamasta".

♡ Työkaveri, mitä moitteettomin ja aina innokas.

Good example how well Gudrun understands how to assist. Winter pasture is open to the road towards draw. She is acting as a living gate. Bonny comes to lift rams, and she does not need a command to keep quarding the gate. She is so precious!

Saana & Roi had a great date with all benefits, and Kelmi - kelpies are expecting litter early April.

Saana works as herding dog on Hereford cattle, sheep, and also in handicapped people care. Competed on sheep & cattle, breeding test on cattle.
Roi works on dairy cattle, competed on sheep. Has PPR1, Paim1 on sheep.

Kelmi Berit (Kelmi Gudrun- Lekebergas Tex) 11,5 months works allready basic tasks on Karho-ojan karjatila - beef cattle farm. She has lots of natural self confidence just like her sister Bonny that I kept at home.

Mated 4.2.26 Kelmi Saarahkka - Kelmi Rongoteus.

Dam Saana (Kelmi Gudrun- Kelmi Maahinen) works on hereford cattle & sheep. Competed in cattle & sheep, breeding test passed on cattle. Natural, free moving bitch with ability to face difficult animals calmly. Works night shifts with handicapped people nursing home, very good temperament.

Sire Roi (Kelmi Jyrä- Jack) works on dairy finncattle. Competed few times well on sheep. Stylish, wide casting male with more eye. Strong attitude with stubborn animals, more like "I take no s**t" kind of guy. Very social with all people.

Saana & Roi are both brave, have no fears with sounds or platforms and works fine both inside & big pastures in different situations.

Both dogs x-rays clear (hips, elbows, shoulders, back) and genetic tests ca lingo3 g vmp1 negative. Inbreeding on 8 generations 2,8%.
