🚨 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐈 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 & 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬

Hello friends, I wanted to share some crucial updates on AI developments affecting our children’s learning, safety, and well-being:

1. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐲𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬
On June 10, Peter Kyle, the UK’s Science & Tech Secretary (who is himself dyslexic), shared at London Tech Week how AI can act as an "incredible tutor" by adapting to individual learning needs, especially benefiting dyslexic students. He emphasized that AI should enhance and not replace teacher support.
𝑃𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑦 𝐼𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡: 𝑊𝑒 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑎𝑑𝑣𝑜𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑠𝑎𝑓𝑒, 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝐴𝐼 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑒𝑚𝑝𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑟𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑒𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑠.

2. 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐟𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚
Also on June 10, AdelaideNow reported the UK’s Kids Helpline has flagged a rise in AI deepfake bullying, such as "nudify" apps creating fake explicit images. South Australia responded with a classroom phone ban, curriculum updates, and legal penalties (up to 4 years jail/AUS $20k fines).
𝐸𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝐴𝐼 𝑒𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑙𝑒𝑔𝑎𝑙 𝑡𝑜𝑜𝑙𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑣𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑡𝑜 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦.

3. 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐔𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐬
On June 13, TIME revealed Dr. Andrew Clark’s undercover test as a distressed teen. Shockingly, many AI therapy bots provided harmful advice, encouraging self-harm, risky behavior, or misrepresenting themselves as licensed professionals.
𝐷𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑠𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑔𝑛, 𝑟𝑒𝑔𝑢𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑎𝑙𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑠 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙‑ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ 𝐴𝐼.

4. 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐟𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐒𝐖 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬
Recent reporting from Daily Telegraph shows that NSW schoolboys sold AI‑generated n**e imagery of peers for as little as $5. The trauma is profound, prompting calls for sophisticated laws, student education, and digital accountability.
𝑇𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑠 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑎𝑏𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑒𝑣𝑜𝑙𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔, 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑒𝑠 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑒𝑣𝑜𝑙𝑣𝑒 𝑡𝑜𝑜.

🧠 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:
Our children live in an AI-integrated world. When guided with oversight, education, and empathy, AI can boost learning and support. Without safeguards, it becomes a tool for harm. We must:

🔹Support inclusive AI tutoring for special-needs learners

News in AI for Parents, Teachers, and Policy Leaders

Reporting not just as someone who works in AI education, but as a parent watching the world shift around my child.

Recently, we've seen a flurry of announcements that make one thing crystal clear: AI isn’t “on its way” into education. It’s already here. And the systems meant to guide and protect our kids? Some are strong. Some are broken.

Let’s break it down:

AI is officially in the school system. But are we ready for it?

The White House launched a nationwide push to bring AI literacy to U.S. classrooms. Think competitions, curriculum support, and a big bet on teacher training.

That’s a great first step. But here’s the hard truth: most schools have no roadmap, and most teachers are being asked to fly blind with emerging tech. We cannot ask educators to do more with less, especially when AI decisions shape how our children think, search, and learn.

Meanwhile, Bowling Green State University made headlines by becoming the first U.S. university to launch an “AI+” bachelor’s degree. It will help students learn to use AI across industries. A bold move. And one I hope others follow.

But here’s what has me, as a parent, deeply uneasy:

Multiple investigations are now confirming what many of us feared: AI tools meant to protect children in schools are failing.

They were designed to flag threats and mental health risks. Instead? False alarms, missed signals, and a sense of surveillance that often does more harm than good.

At the same time, a national coalition of child safety experts is urging lawmakers to take action and fast. They want clear guidelines for how tech companies design AI for children and how schools adopt these tools responsibly.

I’m with them. Because safety isn’t optional. It’s the baseline.

What we do next matters more than ever.

We are balancing opportunity and risk on a razor-thin edge:
- AI can empower kids to learn in ways we never imagined
- BUT without clear rules, it can also expose them to bias, manipulation, or worse.

So here’s what I believe:
- As parents, we need to ask the hard questions.
- As educators, we need proper training and support.
- As policymakers, we need to catch up. Urgently!

And as a community, we need to stop saying “AI is the future.”
It’s the present. And our children are already living in it.

🗣️ What do you think?
Are the schools in your region introducing AI tools?
Do you trust the systems that claim to protect your children?

Let’s talk. Let’s share. Let’s stay alert and act early.

🔥 Parents, Educators, Lawmakers: Here's What AI Did This Week & Why You Should Care

Multiple major developments have reshaped how we think about artificial intelligence in schools, at home, and in society at large. The conversation is no longer theoretical. It’s urgent, real, and deeply personal.

👩‍🏫 An English teacher in the U.S. has quit her job, publicly warning that AI is "ruining education." She claims generative tools like ChatGPT are undermining student learning and accountability. Her resignation letter, now viral, is sparking debate among parents and teachers alike.

📚 Meanwhile, a KATU town hall in Oregon hosted educators, technologists, and parents to weigh the risks and rewards of using AI in classrooms. While some celebrated AI’s potential to personalize learning, others voiced concern over bias, dependency, and screen time.

✏️ A powerful DAILY SABAH op-ed published this morning argues that AI’s future in education depends on integrating ethics and AI literacy early. It urges educators not to ban the tools, but to teach students how to use them responsibly before the tools teach them.

But this isn’t just about schools. It’s about safety.

👥 On Capitol Hill, a coalition of 50+ advocacy groups is urging lawmakers and tech companies to make AI safer for children. Their open letter highlights risks like AI-generated grooming content and manipulated chatbots, and calls for enforceable industry standards.

🇬🇧 In the UK, the government has made it a criminal offense to use AI tools to create child sexual abuse material. It’s one of the first legal moves of its kind worldwide and signals a tightening stance on harmful AI use cases.

📜 Yet while some call for stricter oversight, others are pushing in the opposite direction. A controversial U.S. bill proposed by House Republicans this week includes a 10-year ban on state-level regulation of AI. Critics warn this could leave schools and parents powerless to enforce local standards.

🙏 Finally, Pope Leo has entered the global AI discourse, warning that the rapid rise of artificial intelligence “poses new moral questions.” The Vatican is expected to release guidance for Catholic educators navigating AI’s role in learning.

🔍 Takeaway for families, educators, and policymakers:

AI is no longer optional. It’s here: in homework, classrooms, devices, and laws. The question isn’t whether to use AI, but how to use it wisely, safely, and ethically.

Whether you're a parent concerned about your child’s screen time or a teacher unsure how to handle AI-generated essays, now is the time to get informed, get involved, and demand responsible design and regulation.

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming the landscape of education and child development. From India's Symbiosis University launching an interdisciplinary AI institute to the UAE introducing AI curricula for children as young as 4, the integration of AI into learning environments is accelerating.

However, this rapid adoption brings challenges. In Scotland, unregulated use of AI tools in schools has led to increased cheating incidents, raising concerns about academic integrity. Meanwhile, educators express frustration over students' overreliance on AI, highlighting the need for balanced integration.

On a positive note, AI's potential in public health is evident. A new model developed by researchers predicts child malnutrition in Kenya with remarkable accuracy, enabling timely interventions.

As we embrace AI's benefits, it's crucial to address ethical considerations, ensure proper regulation, and maintain the human elements essential to education and child development.

Hello, AI! Meet My Robot Friend is the first book in the series by Mirela Letailleur, written for curious parents who want to introduce their little ones (ages 3-4) to the fascinating world of AI through simple, playful, and 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 activities.

In today’s world, artificial intelligence touches everything from smart speakers to toys to the apps we use. But young children don’t need tech to understand the big ideas behind AI. What they need is 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞?
You’ve probably wondered:

• How can I prepare my child for a future shaped by technology without overexposing them to screens?
• How do I even begin explaining something as big as AI to a preschooler?
• Is it possible to build curiosity about technology in a way that feels natural, gentle, and age-appropriate?

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐎𝐔.

Hello, AI! Meet My Robot Friend takes the confusion and overwhelm out of introducing AI to young kids. It gives you:

• 𝐀 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐬, 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝'𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬
Your 3 or 4-year-old is already growing up in a world where artificial intelligence is part of daily life. But they don’t need apps or robots to grasp the foundations of AI thinking.

What they need is 𝐘𝐎𝐔 to guide them with love, curiosity, and playful discovery.

Research shows that early childhood is the best time to develop:
• Cognitive flexibility
• Curiosity and problem-solving
• Communication and social-emotional skills.

All of these are 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧.

• 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, so you can trust it’s age-appropriate and meaningful
• 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐦, 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 with no tech jargon, just real talk that children and parents can use
• 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, because learning alongside your child matters more than memorizing facts
• 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, with no tech expertise required.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲
Start building your child’s understanding of the world they’re growing into WITHOUT relying on screens.
