Did you know this? The only accessible rooms at Newport Bay Club have a double bed and bunk beds.
While this may work for some couples and for some families this is not really suitable for four adults, which the room is sold as being suitable for.
Alongside the weight limit on both the top and bottom bunks, they are also shorter than a standard bed, you must be over 6 to use the top bunk, and the hotel actually told us they are not suitable for adults at all.
There is no alternative option, other than paying for a second room. Why should anyone have to pay more because they need accessible accommodation, when a standard room comfortably sleeps 4 adults.
In addition to the issues with the bed layout the rooms have some other issues, the sink was too high to be able to brush teeth over, the doors were too heavy to hold open while also negotiating a raised threshold, the carpet in the rooms and corridors is a deep pile that’s difficult to self propel on.
That said most cast members were lovely, the bar was really relaxing, the pool is nice (though the accessible changing room doors didn’t even close nevermind lock) and has a hoist for the main pool (but not the hot tub). It does also have lovely theming and a great location.
