I’ve been thinking about why we practice the way we do—and why I teach what I teach.

Understanding how the body functions changes everything. It’s like taking medicine: knowing what it’s for and trusting it works makes all the difference.

Learning about movement, fascia, anatomy, and physiology gives context to the practice. Things stop feeling random and start to feel intentional, intelligent, and alive.

Next week at Mosaic (Jan 31, 2–5pm), we’ll explore fascia and movement through an experiential lens, grounding anatomy in lived, felt experience.

This isn’t about memorizing—it’s about understanding your body, so your practice becomes more effective, meaningful, and honestly… more fun.

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? I’ve never really believed in them. So often, they focus our attention on everything we think we’re not doing well enough, instead of acknowledging all that we already are and all that we’re already doing. One of the ways avidya, ignorance can worm it’s way into our everyday lives.

Resolutions ask us to be different - to do more, be better, fix something. Go to the gym more, eat better, become a new version of ourselves. And beneath all of that is often the quiet belief that once we change enough, we’ll finally be worthy of more love, respect, connection, or ease.

What if, instead, we centred our intentions on self-acceptance? On learning how to be with ourselves exactly as we are, in this moment. Not as a resignation, but as a foundation. Because real change, when it comes, grows far more naturally from kindness than from self-criticism.

Maybe this year isn’t about becoming someone new, but about coming home to yourself. And loving yourself exactly as you already are.

If this intention to come home to yourself speaks to you, my free “Understanding the Kleshas” workbook is a gentle guide to begin. It walks you through reflecting on the root causes of suffering — like the avidya (ignorance) that tells us we aren’t enough — and offers practices to cultivate self-awareness and kindness.

Save this for your next warm-up or for when your hips need a little extra attention!

I love standing on a block for this simple glute medius activation, especially when my hips are feeling stiff or locked up.

Standing on a block creates instability, forcing your stabilizer muscles to fire and support your pelvis.

Try it out and let me know in the comments how it feels for you, and don’t forget to drop me a follow if you want more mobility and yoga tips!

As an adult and working mother, so many of my conversations revolve around logistics: who’s taking the kids, what’s for dinner tonight, don’t forget the laundry. I tend to take myself, and life a little too seriously, and not leave quite enough room for fun.

But when we’re having fun, when we’re playing, we drop into flow. We stop fighting reality and start meeting ourselves and the world as it is, moment by moment, unfolding. We’re more open, more available, simply because we’re present.

That got me wondering: what would it look like to bring a more playful mindset into everyday life? I have a lot of responsibilities, but maybe I can meet them with a bit more lightness. Maybe washing the sheets or folding the laundry doesn’t have to feel like an unwanted task on a never-ending to-do list.

Yesterday I told Zorik we need more butt-shaking in our daily lives. An ode to dance. To movement that doesn’t serve a purpose other than feeling good and bringing a little joy into the day.

That spirit is at the heart of Yoga Camp. It’s about playing like kids at summer camp, with the added bonus of nourishing food, movement, and meditation classes that ground us, enliven us, and wake us up.

Yoga Camp is about fun in community, being with like-minded people who want to live in the present and connect more deeply with themselves, nature, and each other. Half yoga retreat, half yoga festival, it’s a weekend on the beautiful shores of Elephant Lake where you can slow down, or speed up exactly as you need.

It’s happening June 19 - 21, 2026 and Early Bird registration is now open. The first 20 people receive the early bird rate; after that, the price goes up. Come celebrate the summer solstice with us, move your body, shake your butt, and have some fun at Elephant Lake. Link in profile for more info 🙏🏼

Comparison steals your moment.

We do it constantly — our lives, our bodies, even our yoga practice — especially when we’re flooded with everyone else’s ‘best’ online.

But what if we tried the ‘bronze medal mindset’? Studies show bronze medalists are often happier than silver medalists. Why? Silver compares up (‘I almost won gold’). Bronze compares down (‘I could have missed the podium entirely’).

It’s not about settling; it’s about perspective. Instead of comparing up to what you don’t have, try looking at what you do have. Your practice, your body, your life — it’s YOURS. Not someone else’s highlight reel. Let’s celebrate our own version of ‘enough.’

Do you already incorporate the bronze medal mindset in your self-talk? If not, are you willing to try? I know I am.

Save this for your next work-from-home break, post-workout wind-down, or anytime you feel that familiar pinch.

If your shoulders feel like they’re permanently shrugged, this one’s for you.

The upper traps hold so much tension from stress, poor posture, and everyday life. This simple self-massage technique uses just a ball to target that tight, aching spot where your neck meets your shoulders.

Let me know in the comments if you try this out, and don’t forget to follow me for more self-massage and yoga tips!

Announcing a New Retreat!
Refuge in Spaciousness: A retreat for intentional living in the Azores
October 19 - 25th, 2026

This fall, join me on Terceira Island in the Azores for a week of energizing movement classes, long savasanas, grounded meditations, unspoiled nature, hiking next to the ocean, and more shades of green than you’ve ever seen before.

This retreat is an invitation to explore what it means to live with spaciousness and intention. Together, we’ll look gently at the patterns we’ve grown accustomed to, the ones that rush us, deplete us, and keep us from feeling grounded and fully alive. Through practice and reflection, we’ll begin to replace them with habits that support our well-being, and we’ll explore what it’s like to show up for life with the full spectrum of our humanness, holding space for ourselves exactly as we are.

The human body has always fascinated me. Since I was a child, I’ve been drawn to movement, artistry, and the many ways the body can flourish and move through space.

As I’ve grown older, my practice has become less about pushing and more about caring, learning how to age gracefully, support our joints and connective tissues, and keep moving so we can maintain our quality of life for years to come. To me, this is part of honouring the incredible gift of this human life.

This is why I teach the way I do. I focus on functional, intelligent movement that supports our connective tissues, helping the body stay supple, resilient, and responsive. My intention is to help you move pain-free, maintain strength and mobility, and preserve range of motion as you age.

Education is a big part of my work. When we understand why we move the way we do, our practice deepens and becomes more effective. Learning how the body works in motion is something I love to share.

This is the heart of my Fascia in Motion: Anatomy Awareness & Application (January 31st), workshop, an opportunity to deepen your understanding of your body and take your practice to the next level.
