Supporting your journey with gentle bodywork, movement, and mindful practices designed to nurture both your physical and mental well-being. This holistic, mother-centred approach honours your unique postnatal experience, addressing both your body’s recovery and emotional needs, meeting you exactly where you are. TO HELP:

Ease chronic pain • Improve sleep: Fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer • Reduce anxiety • Understand habitual patterns • Develop a compassionate relationship with your body • Alleviate symptoms of COPD, asthma, and other pulmonary issues. TO HELP POSTNATAL MUMS:

Relieve postpartum discomfort • Improve sleep: Fall asleep easier • Reduce anxiety and overwhelm • Gain insight into your body's new rhythms • Cultivate a compassionate relationship with your postpartum body • Support respiratory health. WHAT IS SOMATICS AND HOW DOES IT WORK? Thomas Hanna coined the term "Somatics" from the Greek word for "living body." He noted how lifestyle or injury could alter movement or posture, often causing Sensorimotor Amnesia potentially leading to pain. His method relieves pain by encouraging mindful movement and using pandiculation to retrain the nervous system. "Soma" refers not just to the physical body but to a conscious, aware organism. Through felt experiences, we can connect with this inner wisdom, building deeper awareness and healthier living. I weave somatics in with my yoga therapy training to create something especially for you.

Moving to connect, that to me is a large part of yoga movement. Don't get me wrong, I love a vinyasa practice and those moments of trying out challenging positions. However there's something special about these somatic movements where there's no striving to achieve, we're simply meeting our body how it is and noticing how it cares to move today. Its like having a really in depth conversation with a close friend. When you listen you can find out where may need a bit more of your time, notice habitual movement patterns that may need to be shaken up. I'm pretty sure that if I didn't have these more gentler practices I wouldn't be able to do the more demanding ones.
We all appreciate being listened to, how are you listening to your own body?
If you live near Navarrenx and fancy taking up a gentle yoga class, I am at the salle de dance every Tuesday afternoon at 2pm. Feel free to get in touch if you're interested 😊

Postnatal Connection

You do not need to be a mum of young kids only, diastasis recti and pelvic issues can continue for years later!

A space where mothers can come with or without their little ones. A space to move and a space to share! We explore practices to centre our body and mind, using a mixture of tools that I have learnt from different modalities, including yoga, somatic and physical therapy practices.

This is a space where we will explore physical practices for core strength, somatic practices for nerves system regulation as well a time to talk and connect with other mothers.

As a yoga therapist, trauma informed somatic coach and with additional training in postnatal rehabilitation and pelvic pain I can offer useful practices and a safe space for us to listen, be heard, connect and re connect.

Weekly sessions start on the first Friday of Mayl.

Have a look on my website for more information and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions 😊

Here's one for the wrists.

When I was pregnant with Oihana and for about a year later my wrists were not very happy, sometimes I had to adjust my practice so I wasn't distracted by them. We use our wrists a lot! You may have spent the day typing, carrying bags... or kids! We don't really notice them until they start aching.
Hormones, arthritis, repetitive strain can all be reasons for wrist pain amongst others.
Strengthening our wrists can sometimes help relieve pain. If your practicing yoga, just ve mindful of where your weight is in your hands to help support your wrists and your shoulders.
The nerve flossing exercise at the end are particularly useful for the whole hand.
If you have wrist pain I recommend you choose a few of these and fit them into your day 😊

Yoga is often portrayed as a glossy feel good practice, with photos of people looking calm, relaxed, totally at ease. And it definitely can be however there are times when it's not.

Years ago, after about a year of practising Ashtanga, my regular class was cancelled. The only option was a Yin class. It may have been the first time in a class that I was told to relax my belly.

I enjoyed the class and went on with my evening as normal. Then, hours later… BOOM, I was sitting on the floor crying uncontrollably, with no idea why. It was the strangest feeling!

At the time, I had no way of understanding what had happened but I had a feeling it was to do with the class so I mentioned it to my teacher. She smiled and told me to not be put off by the experience, so I reluctantly went back to the class and had a very nice time and a lovely uneventful evening.

When we move slowly, hold shapes, or simply pay closer attention to sensation, we can shift the nervous system out of “doing” and into “rest.” When that happens, the body sometimes responds in surprising ways.

If you experience laughing or crying during or after practice, my advice is not to turn away from it. Simply acknowledge it as a visitor, once it's been felt, it'll probably move on.

Think about a sneeze, what's more satisfying, a loud achoooo or holding it in. I'd go with the first one 🤪

The lotus grows up through murky water before it blooms out in the world. To bloom sometimes we need to feel through some of the difficult stuff too but there is sunshine on the other side 💛

The feet are our first point of contact to the earth, how we position our feet, how we mindfully choose to move with our feet affects our whole posture which can affect our wellbeing.

Our feet are pretty complex, did you know that they consist of 26 bones which makes up a quarter of the bones in the body! They keep us up, they take us places, they give us strength.

Try this ▶️ Grounding, root down by standing with your feet hip width apart pushing your heels down, spread your toes apart and start pushing the root of your big toe and little toe down, see if you can lift the arches of your feet.

The muscles in your thighs will activate pushing your feet further towards the earth, in turn activating the muscles all the way up the legs to the pelvic floor., Prehaps your posture changes slightly here as your pelvis alignes with your feet. Take some nice long breaths and you may feel a mental shift of feeling stronger, stable, and grounded, in the present moment.

In my early days of practice, a teacher told me about grounding, really tuning into the contact between the feet and the ground when walking or standing. I started doing it daily, on my way to work, in the shopping line etc, it just felt good, affirming. Tuning into that contact helped me navigate some big moves, decisions, and negotiations. At the time I had no idea why or how, it just worked, so the next time you may need a little extra moral support how about tuning into those feet 😉

Other small things you can do to give a bit of TLC to the feet is threading the fingers between the toes and giving them a squeeze, this creates space and flexibility through the toes.
Kneeling on the toes is also a good way to create space in the arches of the feet, helping us with our balance. You can start with weight more in the hands and gradually bring more weight over time.

The next time you look at your feet, criticising chipped varnish/ dead skin, knobbly bits etc, remember that they are most likely how you've got to where you are at this very moment, give them a little bit of time and your whole body will thank you for it 😬
