Carers Scotland and Standard Life have joined forces to launch the first ever UK-wide Power of Attorney Day which will take place on Wednesday 22 April 2026. The initiative aims to raise awareness and understanding of powers of attorney and to encourage more people to put them in place.
A power of attorney is a legal document that can ensure a person’s wishes are respected, should they be in a position where they are no longer able to express this directly. For carers, having power of attorney in place can provide clarity and avoid stressful decision-making during difficult emergency situations.
In Scotland, a Power of Attorney (PoA) allows an individual to appoint a trusted person to make decisions on their behalf. Anyone aged 16 or over can set up a Power of Attorney, but it must be done while they still have mental capacity to make their own decisions.

Happy St Patrick’s Day from all of us at Guardian Live-In Care! 🍀

Music can be incredibly powerful for people living with dementia. Initiatives like Music for Dementia highlight how familiar songs can unlock memories, reduce anxiety, and support communication—even when other forms of connection become more difficult. 💚

🍀 Who’s having a little singalong today? 🍀
Taking part in shared musical moments, like today’s St Patrick’s celebration, can boost mood, encourage interaction, and create a real sense of togetherness.

🎵 When: Tuesday 17 March, 11am (straight after Favourite Hymns / 10am playlist)
📲 Listen: Go to m4dradio.com on your smartphone, laptop or tablet
🎧 Where: Choose the MIX Channel
⚫ Alexa: Say “Alexa, enable m4dradio” then “Alexa, play m4dradio”

Whether it’s singing along to classic Irish tunes or simply enjoying the rhythm, music can make a meaningful difference every day.

Wishing everyone a joyful and uplifting St Patrick’s Day! 🌈

☘️ “When Irish eyes are smiling…” 🎶💚

A little bit of Irish magic, a lot of singing and plenty of memories to share.

This St Patrick’s Day, whether you're visiting someone in a care home, caring at home, or raising a cuppa in remembrance, let the music bring you together. 💫

🥃🌹 Happy Burns Day from Guardian Live-In Care! 🌹🥃

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet, whose words continue to bring people together through song, story, and shared tradition.

Across Scotland, many of our customers and care companions will be enjoying Burns Day in their own special way — perhaps with a favourite poem, a traditional meal, or a verse of Auld Lang Syne.

At Guardian Live-In Care, we’re proud to support people to remain in their own homes, surrounded by familiar comforts, cherished memories, and Scottish traditions that mean so much.

Whether you’re raising a glass, enjoying a cosy cuppa, or listening to Burns being read aloud, we wish you a very warm and happy Burns Day.
