Does having internal memory make a cochlear implant smarter? Yes!

The Nucleus® Nexa™ Implant is the world’s first and only smart cochlear implant, thanks to its implant memory. Memory on the implant means your unique hearing information is stored in the implant as well as with your clinician. That gives you the potential to upgrade or change sound processors in the future with no programming required. Smart, right? Discover more https://bit.ly/4mkkd1H

A week since we had the incredible honour of welcoming Professor Graeme Clark to our office in the UK. Professor Clark pioneered the world’s first multi-channel cochlear implant and we're proud to continue that work today. Moments like these remind us just how powerful our mission is, and how deeply it is rooted in purpose, passion, and people.

Graeme heard from Cochlear employee and bilateral cochlear implant recipient, Steve, whose words of thanks spoke for tens of thousands of fellow recipients.💬 “Listening to you brings tears to my eyes. All the blood, sweat and tears have been worthwhile," replied Graeme.

We’re grateful for the time he spent with us. Swipe through the photos to see some of our favourite moments from the day ➡️📸

Big day at the UK office! 🚀

We were honoured to host Professor Graeme Clark during his trip to London this week, several decades after his last visit to the UK office. We were proud to show how far we've come and how we’re continuing to build on the foundation he created. Professor Clark enjoyed a tour of the building and meeting with the team, sparking stories, smiles, and plenty of inspiration. “I can’t believe the scale of the enterprise” was just one of the admiring comments heard from Professor Clark.

Moments like these don’t come around often; a proud day for us all. 💛

We are so proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone in engineering and hearing health.

Professor Graeme Clark AC – the pioneering Australian surgeon‑scientist behind the multichannel cochlear implant – has been awarded the prestigious 2026 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering. 🎉

His vision has helped transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Today, more than 750,000 people in over 180 countries hear with one – or two – of Cochlear’s implantable hearing solutions.

We congratulate Professor Clark and the nine QE Prize laureates whose innovations continue to push the boundaries of neural engineering.

Thirteen-year-old Isabelle is thriving with her Osia® System. She is really into fashion and loves to match the colour of her Osia sound processor to her outfit or hair. “In school, I wear the brown colour to match my hair and make the sound processor more neutral. If I’m going out with friends, I choose either the black, blonde or white.”

Lachelle, Isabelle’s mum, sees the many colour covers as a benefit as well. “As much as you’re born to stand out, sometimes you might want to blend in too." Learn more about the Osia https://bit.ly/4mSKdkn
