Today we’re marking World Down Syndrome Day πŸ’™πŸ’›

At Airdrie Community First Responders, we’re proud to be part of a community that looks out for one another β€” where everyone belongs and everyone matters.

Folk with Down syndrome are part of our everyday lives here in Airdrie β€” our families, our pals, our neighbours β€” and today’s about celebrating them and raising awareness.

The date 21/3 represents the extra copy of the 21st chromosome that causes Down syndrome, making today a meaningful day right across the world.

So whether you’re rocking your brightest mismatched socks or just taking a wee moment to learn more, every bit of support counts.

Let’s keep building a kinder, more inclusive community together πŸ’›πŸ’™

This year if you’re heading out guising, trick or treating, or to a Halloween party, we’d like everyone to have πŸ§›β€β™‚οΈ fang-tastic fun whilst staying πŸ‘» spook-tacularly safe!

Here are some ways you can enjoy Halloween whilst being safe:

πŸŽƒ Stay visible – wear reflective clothes and carry a torch when walking at night
πŸŽƒ Drive carefully – keep an eye out for guisers and trick or treaters
πŸŽƒ Keep calm and carve on – use appropriate tools for pumpkin carving and use LED tealights to light them to avoid open flames
πŸŽƒ Plan ahead – for adult Halloween partygoers, drink responsibly and plan your journey home before heading out

Help us by following the tips above and please only call 999 for life-threatening emergencies. For any other injuries, call 111. πŸš‘πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ

Meet the team πŸš‘

πŸ‘‹ Hi everyone! I’ve been a Community First Responder for just short 2 years now but never got round to introducing myself. I’m Paddy, and when I’m not out on call I work as an HGV driver. It’s a privilege to help support our community and be part of such a great team. πŸš‘πŸ’š
