Let’s be honest about kids’ sport!
A lot of it is built for adults, not children. Adult attention spans. Adult expectations. Adult egos.
We are then left surprised when kids lose confidence, switch off, or stop enjoying it altogether
What’s the solution? Kids don’t need more pressure — they need better environments.
We provide that at Mini Athletics across the UK and USA.
A fun filled environment with engaging games for every child to enjoy sport.

has been using his past experiences to really inspire and influence the kids in his academy and during the chat with & he was open and honest and came up with the perfect answer to why he is the perfect coach to help athletes learn.
🌟 Coaching is about guidance, passing on knowledge and building that trusting relationship. Hats off to Dwain he really is showing all these characteristics 👏

In 2016, Mini Athletics was created by Kirk Bowyer, a strength and conditioning coach for elite athletes and Clare Bowyer, a primary school teacher (PE specialist).
Kirk has worked with many professional athletes from tennis players to formula one racing drivers. He has also worked with some of Great Britain’s most talented sporting juniors (in a wide range of sports, including athletics) to improve performance through physical training.
Clare has a wealth of experience as a primary school teacher. As well as being a physical education specialist, she has spent much of her career educating the early years.
When Kirk and Clare’s first child reached two years old, they were keen for him to participate in a class that met both of their goals. Kirk was keen to enhance athleticism/sporting participation and Clare wanted him to build his confidence, social and cognitive skills. Therefore, they co-created Mini Athletics!
Kirk and Clare quickly started their pilot franchise in Cambridge and Saffron Walden! The pilot was amazingly successful! This photo was from the first EVER Mini Athletics photo shoot.....
Due to the success of the pilot, Mini Athletics started to quickly grow....
In July 2017, Kirk and Clare awarded the Cambridge and Saffron Walden franchise to one of the children’s parents, Hayley Jackson. She was a teacher on maternity leave and wanted a better work/life balance.
They then strengthened the Mini Athletics UK team with the addition of Operations Director, Andy Cornelius. Andy has worked in elite sport and private practice Physiotherapy for many years including Chelsea FC. As a father himself, he understands how modern lifestyles can cause children to live sedentary lives without learning the fundamental movement skills for sport.
Kirk and Clare had enquiries from potential franchisees during their pilot year. However, they were adamant that their franchise model was of the highest ethical standards and needed to be proven before expanding. However, after proving the model they awarded franchises to the following:
Peterborough and Huntingdon (Jamie Gilbert)
West Surrey (Emma and Mark Hadley)
Farnham and Farnborough (Andy Cornelius)
In February 2018, the network of franchises grew further with the addition of:
East Berkshire and Camberley (Lucy Keen and Nicky Leader)
South East London (Alexie Williams)
Ilford, Woodford and Barking (Noman Ahmed)
We strongly believe that by familiarising children to sport at the youngest possible age creates a life long positive behaviour trait. In addition, by introducing them to athletic skills i.e. learning to run, jump and throw, they enhance their competency and therefore confidence in all sports. Our classes also have a hugely positive atmosphere that gives children a fantastic introduction to sport. This is why we are making a difference to the lives of children. We cannot wait to welcome your Mini Athlete!
