What if Friday the 13th wasn’t unlucky at all… but actually your luckiest day of the year? ✨
What if today became the day you achieved something you’ve been putting off?
The day you took the first step toward a goal that really matters.
The day everything started to shift.
In NLP, we know that what you expect, your
mind begins to look for. Your unconscious mind is always scanning the world for evidence to support the beliefs you hold.
So here’s a powerful question for today:
What if Friday the 13th is your lucky day? 🍀
What if today is the day the right idea appears…
the right conversation happens…
or you finally move forward with something important?
If this day has power, use it.
Set an intention.
Choose a goal.
Take one bold step forward.
Your mind will start looking for ways to make it happen.
Today could be the day everything begins.

Happy World Book Day! 🐎📚

The strongest connections aren't just built in the saddle—they are built in the mind. While we spend hours honing our physical aids, today we’re celebrating the power of "mental hacking" through reading to improve our riding, our wellbeing, and our partnership with our horses.
Reading isn't just a hobby; it’s a vital tool for the modern equestrian:
• De-stressing: Just 6 minutes of reading can lower your stress levels by 68%. A calm rider equals a calm horse—your horse can feel your heartbeat, so why not start your ride with a relaxed mind?
• Mental Performance: Great books provide us with the "mental blueprints" to handle competition nerves, setbacks, and those tricky training plateaus.
• Deepening the Bond: Understanding the psychology of how horses think and feel helps us move from being just a "passenger" to a true partner.

📖 World Book Day Recommendations
Looking to level up your mindset? Here are three must-reads for every rider's bookshelf:
• "Ride Big" by John Haime – The ultimate guide to building equestrian confidence. It’s packed with mental tools used by world-leading athletes to help you perform under pressure and silence your inner critic.
• "Unlock Your Riding Success" by Claire Nixon-Ord & Tracey Cole - If you’ve ever felt like your nerves were holding back your horse’s potential, or if you find yourself "over-thinking" in the saddle, this book feels like a conversation with a wise, calm friend who also happens to be an expert in human behaviour. This book is also packed with "how-to" exercises, visualization techniques, and actionable steps that you can try in the stable immediately.
• "Perfect Mind, Perfect Ride" by Inga Wolframm – If you want to understand the science of your mindset, this is the one. It translates sports psychology into practical, hands-on advice for riders of all levels.

Take some time today to swap the reins for a chapter. Your mindset is the most important piece of tack you own!
If you have a favourite equestrian read or a book that changed your perspective, feel free to share it in the comments! 👇

The "Algorithm" Rewrite
"Let’s talk about your Internal Search Engine.
Think of your brain like a social media algorithm. It’s constantly watching what you 'click' on—what you think about, what you worry about, and what you focus on.
If you spend your drive to the yard thinking,
'I bet everyone is judging my riding today,' you are essentially typing that into your brain’s search bar.
Your Unconscious Mind is the ultimate matchmaker. It wants to give you 'relevant results.' So, it starts looking for connections:
• It highlights that one person glancing over the fence (Result #1).
• It pulls up a memory of a bad lesson from three years ago (Result #2).
• It ignores the fact that your horse just gave you a beautiful, soft halt (Deleted).

But here’s the hack: You can reset your 'For You' page.
When you plant a positive seed—a specific 'search term' like 'My horse is becoming easier and more enjoyable to ride'—your internal algorithm shifts.
Suddenly, your brain starts 'suggesting' different content:
• You notice the easy rhythm of your horse's paces.
• You feel the softness in the rein that you usually miss.
• You realize that the person by the fence was actually just admiring your horse’s colour.

The yard hasn't changed. The people haven't changed. But because you changed your Search Term, your brain is showing you a completely different version of reality.
So, before you tighten the girth today, check your search bar. What kind of results do you actually want to see?" 🐴✨

Taking the Reins Back from the Fear of Judgment 🧠

Have you ever found yourself holding back from doing something with your horse because you’re afraid of what the people on the sidelines might say? Or perhaps you’ve felt your body completely freeze up the moment you spot that particular person watching you from the gallery? When we feel like too many eyes are on us, the fear of being judged can feel like an invisible wall, stopping us from showing the world what we and our horses are truly capable of.

From an NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) perspective, it’s time to change the channel on that internal movie and take the reins back. Here is how you can shift your mindset and start riding for YOU:

🧠 The NLP Strategy: Taking Back Control
1. Move from "Effect" to "Cause"
In NLP, one of the most powerful shifts you can make is moving from Effect to Cause.
• Living at Effect means you feel like a passenger in your own life; your emotions and performance are dictated by outside forces (the weather, the judge, or the "mean girls" at the gate).
• Living at Cause means you take full responsibility for your internal state. You recognize that while you can’t control who is watching, you have total 100% authority over how you respond. When you live at Cause, you are the driver, not the passenger.

2. The Protective Colour Bubble
If you feel overwhelmed by the crowd, use this visualization technique: Imagine a shimmering bubble surrounding you and your horse in your absolute favourite colour. This bubble is your sanctuary. As you breathe, see the world outside the bubble blur into insignificance—the faces and the noise become nothing more than a soft, out-of-focus background. This bubble is a filter; it allows your own positive focus to stay in, while protecting you from any negative energy or perceived judgment from others.

3. Understanding the "Mirror" (Projection)
Here is a liberating truth: People can only see in others what they have experienced or felt within themselves. If someone is being critical or negative, they are simply looking at your world through their own distorted lens. They are projecting their own insecurities, past failures, or internal negativity onto you. Their judgment isn't a reflection of your riding; it’s a confession of their own internal state.

✨ The Liberation of "Riding Forward"
When you stop living for the spectators and start living at Cause, the world opens up. You get to:
🌟 Stop holding yourself back and finally say "yes" to the opportunities you’ve been avoiding.
🌟 Live your own life and follow your own timeline, free from the weight of "shoulds."
🌟 Get to live your dreams—whether that’s jumping a clear round, entering your first dressage test, or just enjoying a peaceful hack.
🌟 Celebrate the small wins that no one else sees but mean the world to your horse.
🌟 Actually enjoy the ride, knowing that your value is defined by you, not the "gallery".
You and your horse are a team of two. The only opinion that truly matters is the one with four legs. 🐎❤️

I’ve absolutely loved December and January, working 1:1 each week with an incredible group of clients. We’ve shared so many powerful breakthrough moments. 💫
Some breakthroughs have been steady, gradual changes where we’ve been able to pause, reflect, and see just how far someone has come.

One highlight was a client who hadn’t been able to ride for some time while waiting for a saddle fitting. Through our work together, she no longer felt the need to lunge beforehand or have someone else ride first. She was able to get straight on and ride confidently for her fitting - such a fantastic step forward.

Another moment that has really stayed with me was working with a client who had been struggling significantly with anxiety and sleep. Through our sessions, he now has effective strategies in place and has told me several times that he is able to fall asleep more easily, is sleeping well, and that it has changed everything for him.
Moments like these are exactly why I do what I do. 💙

Behind the scenes, I’ve also been busy preparing talks and workshops, and I’m so excited as camp season gets closer.
Now is the perfect time to get mentally fit and ride-ready for the season ahead.
Let’s Ride Forward together. 🚀🐎

Today is the Winter Solstice — the shortest day of the year and the gentle turning point back towards the light ✨
The darker evenings invite us to slow down, stay in, and enjoy a little more time at home. Rather than seeing this as something to push against, it can be a really positive opportunity to turn inward and focus on your mindset — to reflect, reset, and reconnect with yourself.
This is a chance to check in with your foundations:
• How are you really feeling?
• What beliefs or habits are supporting you?
• What do you want to gently strengthen before moving forward?
When you take time now to pause and connect with yourself, you’re doing exactly what nature does — resting, preparing, and laying strong foundations.
As the daylight hours slowly grow, you’ll mirror that shift too. With solid foundations in place, your confidence builds, things start to feel clearer and your ability to achieve your goals grows naturally 🌱
Enjoy the brief pause.
Then ride forward, ready for what’s next!

International Stress Awareness Week

Today, we’ve been asked to keep our horses in while our yard owner kindly takes time to mend the fencing before winter truly settles in.

At lunchtime, I popped in to see my horses and decided to go for a quiet hand graze. Standing beside him, my hand resting gently on his wither, I breathed in the cool, crisp air and felt the warmth of the autumn sun on our backs.

In that moment, everything slowed down.
The soft rustle of leaves — golden and stubbornly clinging to the branches — the rich scent of damp grass and horse, and the gentle sound of birds chattering in the trees. I could feel any tension and anxious energy simply melting away, flowing down through my feet into the earth below.

It was a quiet reminder that peace doesn’t always need planning. Sometimes, it’s found in a breath, a pause, a shared moment of stillness.

✨ Take a moment today to stop, breathe, and find yourself again.
What simple thing has helped you feel grounded today?

🌿 International Stress Awareness Week 🌿

When did you last take time to pause and reflect…?

How many of us are moving through life bathed in stress — rushing from one thing to the next, convinced we don’t have time to stop, to breathe, to reconnect with ourselves?

Every cell in your body responds to your emotions. Long-term stress takes its toll, creating patterns of tension, aches, fatigue — and sometimes even illness.

What’s more, that constant frenetic energy doesn’t make us more productive — it actually makes us less so.

Just as we nourish our bodies with healthy food and movement, we must also care for our mental fitness. Here are a few simple ways to calm your mind and bring yourself back to balance:

✨ Take mindful breaks during your day — a few deep breaths can work wonders. Inhale slowly… hold… then exhale deeply. This activates your parasympathetic nervous system and helps to restore calm.

✨ Ground yourself using the 5-4-3-2-1 technique:
5 things you can see 👀
4 things you can hear 👂
3 things you can touch 🤲
2 things you can smell 👃
1 thing you can taste 👅

💤 Listen to a calming meditation at bedtime to help your mind and body unwind, so you drift into a deeper, more restorative sleep.

🌀 Stress is part of being human — but it doesn’t have to control your journey.
Take a breath. Take a pause. Take a step to RIDE FORWARD. 💙

🕒 Tonight the clocks go back an hour — and this isn’t just about time on the wall.
Change always carries momentum: it can disrupt our daily rhythm and challenge our usual patterns… but what if it also could also gift us a fresh window? In a few days our brain will have adjusted, our body will adapt, and our new rhythm will become the default.
🔄 Consider this: when your schedule, your body, and your mindset feel that shift, you may be momentarily off-balance — but because of your brain’s plasticity (its capacity to form new neural pathways) you’ll soon settle into a fresh pattern.
✨ What if we used this extra hour as a purposeful trigger to rewire and optimise our routine? What if we consciously choose one change in our daily routine— big or small — that enhances how we live, train, ride, recover?

Let this one-hour shift become your springboard. Use it to choose one change and ride forward into a stronger pattern.
