Chairwork is dedicated to providing high-impact training, supervision, consultancy, and psychotherapy incorporating action-based methods - collectively known as ‘chairwork’. We promote the application, development, and continued research of chairwork, which forms an integral part of evidence-based psychotherapies and coaching approaches. Chairwork is co-directed by Dr. Matthew Pugh and Tobyn Bell, with the aim of promoting the application, research, and dissemination of chairwork. Matthew Pugh is a Clinical Psychologist, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, Advanced Schema Therapist, Voice Dialogue Facilitator, researcher, and leading chairwork practitioner. Matthew has provided chairwork training, supervision, and consultation for individuals, teams, and organisations for several years. He is the author of ‘Cognitive Behavioural Chairwork: Distinctive Features’ and has led chairwork-related developments in many other areas, including clinical supervision, executive coaching, and the treatment of eating difficulties. Tobyn Bell is a Compassion-Focused and Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapist, Trainer, and Supervisor. He has worked within mental health settings for over 15 years. He is the co-author of the book ‘Compassion Focused Therapy from the Inside Out: A Self-practice/Self-reflection Workbook for Therapists’. A member of the training executive for the Compassionate Mind Foundation, Tobyn regularly provides national and international training on compassion and chairwork, and is actively involved in ongoing research within these areas.
