This Christmas period can be a challenging time for some people. Hoping that you’re all able to get support if needed and that you too can get out for a walk, to give a bit of a lift, like I did this morning with an individual client at Grantchester Meadows.

Letting you know that sadly I'm not going to be able to continue to run the monthly group walk at Therfield/Royston Heath.
I've been struggling to get enough numbers together on a regular basis to make it viable and I've also now been contacted by the landowning trust for Therfield Heath and have been informed that I'd need to pay a monthly fee in order to continue to run the walks. This will mean that I'll end up being out of pocket as I don't get regular enough numbers to cover this cost and, sadly, I can't afford to do that.

I've really enjoyed doing the group walks. It has been lovely to meet new people to walk and talk together, providing connection and support through our conversations whilst out on the lovely Heath.

I’ll continue to offer individual walks and walk with others for the wellness boost that walking can bring. I hope you all also can find time to enjoy walking outdoors and benefit your physical and mental health through this lovely activity.

Walking and a bit of biking with friends in France this last weekend.
Feel boosted by being outdoors all day and soaking up the end of summer sunshine.

Things will look quite different by the time we get to our next group walk on Therfield Heath on 1st November but, whatever the weather, put the date in your diary and come along to enjoy walking and supportive conversation with our friendly group.

A week away in Wales with my youngest brother and other family for some walking, sea swimming, exploring the coastline by Kayak and BBQs and chat around the firepit in the evening. What a lovely way to spend quality time together and enjoy the outdoors.

Another weekend of walking!
Away this time staying in the Cheddar Youth Hostel in Somerset with a group of others.
There were many in the group that I didn’t know but you find, when walking together, that there’s always something inspiring or connecting that you can learn from talking to someone new and having the curiosity to listen and get to know them better.
Everyone has a story with high points but also challenges and there’s something lovely about walking and talking that can bring out this shared humanity and experience of life.

Group walks in any form are a great opportunity for curiosity and connection.

Come along and join one of my next monthly group wellness walks.
You’ll meet others who live locally, get a boost from some exercise, enjoy being outside on the Heath and benefit from supportive conversation and an inclusive, friendly atmosphere.

Group walks coming up are as follows:
Saturday 12th July at 10.00
Saturday 9th August at 10.00
Saturday 6th September at 10.00

These are all on Royston/Therfield Heath.
We meet by the outdoor tables of the Heath café, walk for an hour or so and then anyone who wants to can stay on for a drink at the café and more chat after.

Encouraging my children into longer distance walking…
Hope I’ve not put them off with the 3 day trip we did carrying our kit and covering a challenging 43 miles of the South West Coast Path! We started at Dunster, just outside of Minehead in Somerset, and finished in Combe Martin in North Devon.
Lots of ups and downs but the views were spectacular and the terrain and landscape very varied with wooded paths, grassy moorland stretches with bracken and heather and rocky sections right on the edge of dramatic cliffs. Best of all was the chance to spend time with them chatting as we walked.

Come along to my next group walk at Therfield/Royston Heath if you also fancy some walking and talking with others.
I’ve had to adjust the usual dates of the July and August group walks which will be on the second rather than the usual first Saturday of the month:
- Saturday 12th July at 10.00
- Saturday 9th August at 10.00

Walking week with a group in the Scottish Highlands…stunning and unspoilt landscape with dramatic mountains, wonderfully blue inland lochs, beautiful coastline and a quiet remoteness to it all.

There’s something really lovely about walking alongside others whether you know each other already or whether you’re meeting for the first time. It’s a relaxed way of having conversation whilst being outdoors to exercise and enjoy the beauty of the natural environment.

Come and join me this Saturday 7th June at 10.00 at Royston/Therfield Health to walk with others like I did in Scotland.
We meet on the first Saturday of each month at 10.00 to walk for an hour or so and then have a drink and more chat in the Heath Café after for those that want to stay on.

Another lovely group walk today walking and talking together. Everyone has things they're dealing with and it's nice people feel able to share what's going on for them and get support from the group.

Walking in a group is such a nice thing to do!
Getting out for a walk gives a wellbeing boost in itself but there’s that added benefit you get from walking alongside others and connecting through conversation and companionship.

Lovely to get out in the sunshine this morning for our group walk on Therfield Heath. We headed over to the chalk ridge where the purple Pasques Flowers are now in bloom and from where there are fantastic view out across the countryside. A very nice start to the weekend.

Do come along and join in our group walk next month on 3rd May to enjoy talking and walking together like we did today.

So lovely to be able to get to Wales over the weekend and enjoy this warm Spring weather and some walking.
I’ve joined a walking group and am doing a trip to mountainous NW Scotland in May so needing to get fitter for walking on the hills!
