.thealternative delivered a wellbeing event today in focusing on Menstrual Health, Diet Culture and Body Image. Thank you to MS Morgan for organising and to the TY students and their French Exchange Visitors for taking part. Conversations and space like this make such a difference to our overall health and wellbeing and we are delighted to have the opportunity to offer them.

This was another really powerful program as part of our Hero’s Heart Program delivered in St Mary's P.S. - Mullaghbawn with funding from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. The boy’s were so engaged and a credit to their school, families, community and most importantly to themselves.

Since August 2025 We have been working with a fantastic group of young people from The Bosco youth club, on their Ending Violence Against Women and Girls project on 19th March we held a presentation evening for their family and friends that showcased their work through a short film that they created. It is an incredible piece of work that highlights so many of the every day examples of misogyny and gender gaps that exist across society. The young people have been amazing to work with and we are hopeful for the future, as they bring their awareness and knowledge into the world. Thank you to and for their support and funding and to for their hospitality.

The move from Primary to Secondary school is a big one. Preparing for Change is a course designed to bring confidence, honesty and direction to the pathway that parents, pupils and teachers find themselves on. Well respected among schools across Newry and South Armagh, Joanne is available to run these courses in schools across NI.
