Acupuncture By Vanessa

Acupuncture By Vanessa Traditional Acupuncture Traditional Acupuncture is one of the world’s oldest systems of medicine, dating back some 5000 years.

In recent years acupuncture has become recognized in the West for its ability to address chronic and debilitating conditions, in addition to the treatment of pain. Its focus is on improving the overall well being of the patient, rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms. The main principle of Traditional Acupuncture is the treatment of the whole person and the condition. This is achieved by balancing their vital energy—known as Qi—which enables the body, mind and spirit to function in harmony and achieve health and well-being. This helps symptoms and any underlying imbalance, which may be contributing to the disease. In this way, symptoms can be alleviated and the cause of the problem identified and helped, leading to a more permanent improvement than treatment of the symptoms alone. Symptoms are distress signals that indicate that the energy is out of balance. Traditional Acupuncture addresses them by treating the underlying cause of the problem. I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) having completed a three year degree course at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Royal Leamington Spa. The BAcC maintains standards of education, ethics, discipline and practice to ensure the health and safety of the public at all times. Through this I am covered by Medical Malpractice and Public/Products Liability Insurance. As a member of the BAcC, I observe a Code of Safe Practice, which lays down stringent standards of hygiene and requires the use of sterile, disposable needles. I have always been particularly interested in the treatment of infertility with acupuncture. In fact, this is what first introduced me to acupuncture while undergoing fertility treatment and eventually IVF. I even wrote my dissertation in this subject. Furthermore, I became an affiliated acupuncturist of the Zita West network for reproductive health. All members receive training and ongoing support in Zita West’s comprehensive, holistic approach to achieving optimum reproductive health. This covers a wide range of treatments and approaches to help boost fertility, enhance IVF, improve pregnancy, enhance birth outcomes and support postnatal recovery. I am also one of a few practitioners trained in the specialised technique of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture by Virginia Doran of New York.

🍂 Acupuncture & Autumn: Finding Balance as the Seasons Change 🍁

As the air cools and the leaves begin to fall, our bodies naturally shift with the rhythm of the season. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn is linked with the lungs and large intestine — organs that help us let go, breathe deeply, and make space for renewal. 🌬️

Acupuncture can support this seasonal transition by:
✨ Strengthening your immune system for the colder months ahead
🌿 Balancing your energy as daylight shortens
💆‍♀️ Releasing tension and emotional stagnation — just like the trees release their leaves

Take this time to slow down, nourish yourself, and reconnect with your breath. 🍵
Your body and mind will thank you.

🌿 How Acupuncture Can Help with Menopause Symptoms

Menopause is a natural stage in life, but the symptoms that come with it—like hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, insomnia, and fatigue—can be anything but easy. While hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is an option for some, many women are looking for natural, drug-free ways to manage their symptoms. That’s where acupuncture can help.

✨ How Does Acupuncture Work?
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting ultra-fine needles into specific points on the body. It’s believed to restore balance, improve energy flow (Qi), and support the body’s natural healing processes.

🧘‍♀️ Benefits of Acupuncture for Menopause:
• Reduces Hot Flushes & Night Sweats: Studies have shown that regular acupuncture sessions can reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flushes and night sweats.
• Improves Sleep: Acupuncture helps regulate the nervous system and promotes deeper, more restful sleep—especially important when insomnia is triggered by hormonal changes.
• Balances Mood & Reduces Anxiety: Many women report feeling calmer and more emotionally balanced after treatment, thanks to acupuncture’s impact on stress hormones and endorphin levels.
• Supports Energy & Wellbeing: By promoting circulation and restoring energy flow, acupuncture can help combat fatigue and improve overall vitality.

🌸 A Holistic, Personalised Approach
One of the key benefits of acupuncture is that it’s tailored to you. Your acupuncturist will consider your specific symptoms, lifestyle, and overall health to create a treatment plan that addresses your unique experience of menopause.
