After introducing my new Admin Assistant Fudge last week, it’s only fair to introduce the rest of the team! 😸

Meet Sasha – the Quality Officer. Her main role? Supervising my patient notes with a very critical eye (and the occasional paw on the keyboard).

Nothing gets past her high standards… except maybe a stray treat. 🐾💻

🦶 Advanced Foot & Nail Treatments – Available Here at The Foot Scientist

At The Foot Scientist, I’m proud to provide a range of specialist therapies designed to restore comfort, confidence and healthy feet — often without the need for surgery or invasive procedures.

✨ Here are just a few of the advanced treatments I offer:

🔹 Non-surgical correction of ingrown toenails – gentle, effective relief without needles or surgery.
🔹 Verrutop® verrucae treatment – a professional-strength solution for stubborn warts and verrucae.
🔹 Nail reconstruction (hands or feet) – restores the appearance of damaged or fungal nails beautifully and naturally.
🔹 The Lacuna Method® – a targeted, minimally invasive approach to treating persistent fungal nail infections.

These specialist treatments are part of the advanced care I provide to help patients feel their best from the ground up.

If you’d like to know more or find out which option might be right for you, I’m always happy to help.

Your feet deserve expert care — and that’s exactly what you’ll find at The Foot Scientist.

📚 Back to School for The Foot Scientist! 👣

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is such an important part of being a healthcare professional — and yesterday it was back to school for me to refresh and build on my padding and taping skills!

I had the pleasure of spending the day with the fantastic team from Foot Health Training and Michael Ratcliffe from Cuxson Gerrard, learning all about the latest techniques and materials for managing foot pain and improving comfort.

From fat pad atrophy to plantar fasciitis, and from corns to apical callus, we explored how the right padding, taping and bespoke silicone orthoses can make a huge difference to our patients’ comfort and recovery.

A big thank you to Suzanne, Sharon and Michael for sharing your expertise — it was such a valuable day of learning, networking and catching up with friends in the profession!

💡 Keep an eye on this page — I’ll soon be introducing some new services that incorporate these advanced techniques to help you stay pain-free and on your feet.

Not all nail infections are fungal — and this lovely lady’s story proves it 💅

Sarah* came to see me worried about what she thought was a fungal infection on her fingernails. But after a good look and a chat about her medical history, I recognised that what she actually had was a bacterial infection (pseudomonas).

Because of my background as a clinical scientist, I knew her underlying health condition made her more likely to develop this type of infection — and that antibiotics were needed to clear it up. I contacted her GP to explain what I’d found and request the right treatment, and just look at the amazing difference a few months later! 🙌

While I can’t prescribe antibiotics myself, my training means I can often identify the cause quickly and help patients get the right care without delay.

And did you know — I don’t just look after feet! I can also help with nail problems on the hands too 💙

If you’ve got nails that just don’t look or feel quite right (on the hands or feet), don’t ignore them. Get in touch — I’m always happy to help or point you in the right direction.

🧦 Winter is the perfect time to give your feet some quiet care.

While your feet are tucked away in cosy socks and winter boots, it’s the ideal opportunity to tackle those stubborn issues — like fungal nails, verrucae, or ingrown toenails.

Some treatments take a little time to work their magic, and the cooler months give you the perfect cover to get started. By Spring, your feet will be healthier, happier, and ready to step out with confidence — and no one will ever know what you’ve been working on. 👣

✨ The Foot Scientist — gentle, professional care to help you feel confident from the ground up.

📩 Message me today to book your winter appointment at my clinic in Pinwall near Sheepy Magna.

🍂 Autumn might bring cosy boots… but also painful cracked heels. Let’s fix that.

As the weather turns colder, dry, cracked heels often start to appear. What may seem like a small problem can quickly become uncomfortable — even painful — leading to splits, infection, and difficulty walking.

Cracked heels are often caused by dry skin, long hours on your feet, or poor circulation. The good news? With the right care, they can be treated and managed.

At The Foot Scientist, I’ll gently reduce the thickened skin, apply soothing, nourishing treatments, and create a simple plan to help keep your heels soft, smooth, and healthy. If there’s ever a hint that an underlying health condition is involved, I’ll make sure you’re referred to the right healthcare professional for further support.

✨ Walk away feeling relieved, comfortable, and confident — ready to step out pain-free.

👣 Verruca troubles? Here’s what you need to know…

You may be surprised to hear that my first recommendation for verrucae that don’t hurt and aren’t spreading is quite simply "the tincture of time.” Why wait? Because many verrucae disappear on their own as your immune system quietly takes care of them — usually within a couple of years.

But if they’re painful, multiplying, or stopping you (or your child) from enjoying life to the full, there’s no need to keep struggling. At The Foot Scientist, I offer a variety of gentle, effective treatments, always tailored to your medical history and lifestyle. Together, we’ll find the best way forward for you.

✨ And here’s a little tip: winter is the perfect time to start treatment. That way, by the time summer arrives, you’ll be sandal-ready and feeling confident again.

👣 Book your consultation today — your feet will thank you.
