I decided yesterday would be a good a day as any to stomp up and down the UK's second highest mountain (for I think the 5th time) and I did it in 4h12 🙌🏽

Which is fast. I'm not even joking when I say I jogged most of the descent and I'm not a runner.

I didn’t even PLAN to be fast. I just went out by myself, decided last minute to scramble the ridge and then started pushing my pace to the top.

I was up to the summit in 2h30 and then feeling good on the way down I just started jogging the steeper sections and letting gravity do the work 🤷🏽‍♀️

I always challenge myself during what I call my "performance zone" which is the first half of my menstrual cycle. I train harder and more frequently, with fewer rest days because I either don't need them or I know they're coming in the next phase.

This just means that whether I'm doing a lot of activity or not (usually not 😅) in the 2nd half, my overall fitness just gets better every month!

I mean bloody hell talk about simplicity - adding this to the long list of things I wish I'd known since my early 20s 🔐

If you're fighting those feelings of frustration (just like every other woman I know) and feel confused and overwhelmed by all the cyclical training info, I'm right there with you 🤷🏽‍♀️

Because we're not taught how to train effectively for our biology. We're taught how to train like men. Or we're advised to stop training and take up Pilates and gentle walking every single luteal phase 🙄

Especially when I know my clients want balanced energy across the month and don't want to change their entire training ethos every week!

For us women, it's all about using your hormones to enhance how you train.

And if you’re in a place now where you just feel fed up with training that doesn't account for your unique biology, or you're not seeing the progress you expect...

I'll remind you that you don't actually have to give up whatever type of training you love - that's the OG POV.

Why do you even want to know when you’re ovulating?

🔐 From a training perspective, it’s a key performance zone; testosterone peaks so you have the energy to really go all out and push your limits 🚀

🔐 Fertility; this is your fertile window, so whether you’re looking to get pregnant or avoid it altogether, it matters.

PS. Did you know you can only get pregnant 5 days out of you entire cycle?!

These might all seem like fairly innocuous things to focus on and identify, but when you add a couple of these indicators together and log them 2 or 3 cycles in a row, the pattern starts to take shape 🙌🏽
